What the fuck just happened? He really knocked the shit out of me.Why?I sit myself up, and I am still dizzy as I find my robe and put it back on.My thong was basically torn off me earlier, so I finish taking it off and throw it away.

I hear Omar behind me, but I am still so out of it that I don’t respond.“Lorelei, look at me,” Omar says firmly as he grabs my shoulders and turns me around.“Rob!”

“He hit me,” I say.

“Yeah, I can see that,” he says as he scoops me into his arms and carries me out.Instead of taking me through the main floor, he takes me down a back hall to go around to the other side of the building.

“What happened?”Rob, my boss, says from behind us.

“The last client knocked the shit out of her,” Omar says.“She’s done going back there.I don’t care if I have to burn this fucking building down. She’s done.”

He sets me down in a chair before pulling another one up to sit in front of me.“He said they were coming back tomorrow,” I say.

“They?”Rob asks, lifting my chin to look at my face.“Jesus, he really smacked the shit out of you, girl.”

“There were three,” I say, still dazed.

“Only George was supposed to be in there,” Rob says.“I’ll pull the footage.”

“I don’t wanna go back there anymore, Rob,” I say.

“Okay,” he says softly.“Lorelei, I’m sorry this happened. He’s never been like that with you before.”

“It wasn’t him.It was the guys he brought. It’s like he was showing me off,” I say.“I don’t want to dance tomorrow, though.”

“Okay.I’m going to take you off for a few weeks and we can talk after,” he says.

“Is that your way of telling me to quit?”I ask.

“Yes,” Rob says.“I’m also banning George.”

“That’s his name?”I ask.“He’s never told me before because I wouldn’t tell him my real name.”

“Weird… Yeah.I’m banning him.I’ll check the cameras to see who the others were.”

“I’m going to go home, if that’s okay,” I say.

“You gonna be okay getting home?”Rob asks.

“Yeah,” I sigh.“I’m okay.Just needed a second.I don’t know why he hit me.Then George just handed me a wad of cash like it was nothing.”

“How much?”Omar asks.

“Hell, I don’t know.I’ll count when I get home,” I say.Omar hands me my little bag that I keep my money in, and I put the rest of my cash in before I stand.

“Lorelei,” Omar says.

“I know,” I say.“I’m just used to being here.”

“Dance, but don’t go into the back rooms anymore. No private dances,” Rob says.“You’ve been here for a while, and a lot of the regulars recognize you, which always leads to them being rougher with you because they assume you will take it.”

“The new ones are the ones who will take it,” I say.

“Most girls don’t stay in a club more than a year, and you’ve been here four,” Rob says.“Consider switching clubs or stopping. You have a master’s degree, babe. You don’t need to be here. You can pay and take classes on the weekends.”

“I’ll think about it,” I say.

“Want me to walk you out?”Omar asks.
