Chapter Seven
“Hi, Theo,”Camden said. He felt groggy, like this was a dream. The best dream.
“Hey. Is it okay that I called?” Theo asked.
“Of course.”
Camden clicked off the TV, leaving the living room dark. Arousal spiraled through him, making his blood pump and nerve endings wake up.
“I’m staring at the pile of … well, you know. The gifts you got me.”
“All right.”
“I tried to distract myself tonight, by the way. Tried to watch Netflix. Played videogames. Read the same paragraph in a book for an hour. I couldn’t stop …”
“Stop what?” Camden asked, feeling winded already.
“Wanting to experiment.” Theo grumbled inaudibly, and Camden could picture him grabbing his own hair. He’d seen Theo do that so many times in the past when he was amped up or anxious. “You didn’t tell me what toy to try, so I have no idea. And there are so many. It’s overwhelming. Like what’s better—a butt plug or a dildo? Oh my God, I can’t believe I just asked you that. What the fuckity fuck am I doing?”
Camden jumped to his feet as if he could stop Theo from hanging up by physically moving quickly. “Hey, whoa. It’s okay. Deep breath. I’ll help you choose. How about that?”
“Are you going to pretend to be my boss while doing it?”
Camden couldn’t tell if that appealed to Theo tonight or not. The question felt like a minefield. “Not unless you want me to. I was going to be myself for a bit.”
“I don’t want you to be Mr. Sauveterre tonight.”
“Okay. Then I won’t be.” Camden paced to his front window and back to his sofa. Three steps one way. Three steps back. “Find the box that says Rimmy, the box with the purple dildo, and the box that says Supreme P-Spot Pulse.”
He could hear Theo shuffling around. After about a minute, he said, “Okay. Done. Do I use all these at once?”
Camden laughed. He was so in love with the man. “No. Not all at once. One of those will be great if you … well … if you want something inside you. I should have asked you that first. I was going to have you gather several items and go from there.”
“Something inside sounds good.”
“Okay.” Dizziness almost brought Camden to his knees. “Great. Uh, well, it depends on what you want, then. The Rimmy is a butt plug that has little rotating beads around the neck. It simulates the sensation of being rimmed. You’d need to charge that for an hour or so before use. The dildo is pretty self-explanatory. It’s got a suction cup, so you could stick it to stuff, like a shower wall or a headboard. And the Supreme P-Spot is a simple prostate massager. It requires batteries, but I put some in the basket.”
Theo didn’t respond.
Camden checked his phone screen, but the call hadn’t dropped. “Theodore?”
“Yup. Still here. Just trying not to combust from the—”
“Weirdness?” Camden asked, insecurities clawing at his chest. He was trying to treat Theo like he was any other patron at First-Rate, but it was hard to ignore that this was a new step in their friendship.
“I was gonna say hotness, but weirdness works.”
Hotness.
Holy shit.
Theo thought Camden’s customer-service spiel was hot?
“I’m glad.”
“About what?”
“That you think it’s hot.” Camden rested his flaming face against the cool glass of his window. “So, what’ll it be? Plug, dildo, or prostate massager?”
