Leah hadn’t expected pillow talk. In truth, neither had Sloan. She had other things to talk about.

Like what their relationship would be like going forward.

Sloan made it clear that she didn’t want a whirlwind romance that could end with them getting hitched in Vegas – or planning a long, drawn out wedding two years from now. She wanted reliable access to a friend with benefits and nothing more. Maybe they would go on more public dates. Maybe, if they both agreed on it, they would attend functions together, but it would entirely depend on how Sloan felt and how much she wanted to blend her personal and professional lives. Did that jive with Leah?

Well, what could she say? No? Saying no would be saying goodbye to such a prime opportunity to have a life! Leah hadn’t been in a casual relationship in so long, that she would’ve agreed to an exclusive relationship even if they only met every ten weeks for a ten-minute quickie like on her birthday. It gives me something to look forward to, I guess.Leah had no other romantic prospects. Perhaps, if she met another woman she wanted to strike up a relationship with, she would tell Sloan to take a hike. Why not milk everything she could get right now, though?

It was the adventure to start off her thirties. If the timing wasn’t an omen, then she didn’t know what was.

“You do what you need to do,” Sloan said, enjoying her post-sex cigarette. “Work, family, whatever. If you tell me to fuck off once in a while, I won’t take it personally. Now, what doyouwant?”

“I’m pretty easy to please.”

“In the bedroom, obviously, but surely you have needs outside of it. I’m not going to send you love letters while we’re apart. But if you want, I could make sure your favorite flowers show up on your doorstep every week for you to enjoy.”

“How would I explain that to my parents?”

“Tell them I gave you a year’s subscription as a birthday present.”

“Pretty sure you gave meyouas my birthday present.”

“Yes, back when my kitten was a mere birthday girl. That’s how it works.”

Leah nuzzled her cheek against Sloan’s naked shoulder. Her lover was bald again, her wig cast upon the end of the bed without a care. “There’s one thing I can think of. It wouldreallyturn me on to think about, even if we don’t see each other for a while.”

“What’s that? Not too expensive, I hope?”

“It doesn’t cost any money at all.”

Sloan raised her eyebrows. “Dare I ask, then?”

Leah, who had the confidence to knock herself out only a second ago, now second-guessed what she was about to say. “I want to be your only one while we’re together.”

“Exclusive, huh?” Sloan tapped her cigarette against the ashtray on the nightstand. “That’s a lot to ask.”

“No other girlfriends, andnoescorts. If you’re that hard up for some loving…” Leah’s fingers walked across Sloan’s exposed stomach. Her nipples hardened, although the rest of her remained unfazed. “You know my number. Any time of day.”

“Anytime?”

“I can take breaks at work, you know.” That was a hot thought. Leah imagined herself standing over a cake, when a text buzzed in her back pocket.“I need you, now,”it would say. Five minutes later, Leah could be in the bathroom having phone sex… or better. “I’ve got a bigger imagination than you took me for, huh?”

“Ohhoney.” Sloan put out her cigarette and slung her arm around Leah’s shoulders. “You kinky girls are always the most imaginative. That’s why you’re the ones who control the show.”

“Really?” Leah found that hard to believe. “Because you seem to call most of the shots. Including when I get to come.”

“Because that’s what you want, and I get off on it, too.”

Leah grinned. “So you’re cool with being exclusive?”

“It’s not like my calendar is filled with dates with other women. As long as I’m content, I can make something work.” She paused, lost in thought. “Although, if you’re signing up to be my exclusive lover, then you might be taking on more than you can deal with. There’s a reason my little black book is full of names.”

“You might be surprised.”

“I’m already surprised.” Sloan’s hand was back between Leah’s thighs. “Every time I meet up with you, I’m surprised. Maybe it was fate, after all.”

“You don’t seem like the kind of woman who is impressed by fate.”

“I’m not. Fate is bullshit, but sometimes it’s fun to indulge.”
