Maxine Woodward wanted to have casual sex with her.Her.A woman who normally didn’t have opportunities like this. Lydia didn’t have anything against casual sex, right? She understood what that meant and entailed. They weren’t girlfriends. This wasn’t a date for a trial relationship. Maxine wanted to screw someone, and Lydia – of all people – was the one she wanted to screw.

I could say I slept with her. Maybe not to people in general, but to myself…Every time Maxine came by the resource center, Lydia could have that wash of fun memories, knowing that she had seen this gorgeous woman naked, felt her heat, tasted her skin…

“Like I said, I don’t like to waste time. That includes wasting other people’s time. If you want to leave, you should probably do so now. Otherwise, I’m going to have one of my staff suggest to your friend that sheleavewithout you.”

“What’s my name?”

Maxine abruptly turned her head toward her guest. “Excuse me?”

“If you can tell me my first name, I’ll stay.”

Lydia was all about casual sex if the hot moment presented itself, but not at the expense of her humanity. She wouldn’t let Maxineuseher. They didn’t have to be friends. They didn’t really need anything in common, as long as they didn’t hate each other. A physical connection, chemistry of the most sexual kind… that was all that was needed, right?

Lydia definitely felt that way about Maxine. She simply never guessed it could go the other way.

Maxine squared her shoulders, her honor on the line. “Lydia. I dare you to tell me I got that wrong. I don’t care if your name is actually something else. That’s the name that showed up in my background check, and I’ve bothered to remember it, thank you very much.”

Damn, she was hot when she was bothered.

“All right.” Lydia inhaled a deep breath for confidence. “I said I would stay. So I’ll stay. Now what?”

One side of Maxine’s mouth turned upward into a smirk. “My bedroom’s that way, Ms. Kellerman, and you’re still wearing clothes.”

Indeed she was. Someone had a feeling that was about to change, however.

***

Maxine truly believed in never wasting anyone’s time. This extended to sex. She bothered to turn on the light to the anteroom of her chambers before yanking Lydia in and pinning her against the nearest wall.

“Anything you don’t want?” Lydia’s hands were pressed above her head. Maxine’s fingers interlaced with hers. What a feeling! “Tell me now. I’m liable to do anything.”

Right now, Lydia thought anything sounded good with Maxine Woodward. She was already acting the top, dominant role. So happened that Lydia got off the hardest when she bit pillows.

Except she had to be somewhat practical before flinging herself into the throes of passion and one-night-stands.

“Just make me feel good.” Yeah, that was descriptive. “I’ll make you feel good too.”

Maxine grinned against Lydia’s lips. “Is that a promise? Sorry, but I tend to take and give at the same time.”

Could this get any hotter? Lydia wiggled between the wall and Maxine’s pressing body. “Prove it, Ms. Woodward.”

“Don’t challenge me to do things. They may be too intense for you.”

Lydia plastered her hands against Maxine’s chest. Electricity shot through her – and probably through Maxine too. “No such thing.”

“I see.” Nails brushed against Lydia’s cheek. Her eyes fluttered shut as those nails were replaced with gentle, soft knuckles that pressed against the side of her neck and then her collarbone. “You like it when another woman takes charge.”

“You seem like the kind of woman who likes taking charge, so it works out.”

A famished kiss nearly killed her.“I’ll show you a woman who takes charge,”she seemed to say with that kiss.“I’m taking charge right now.”

This would be a lot more comfortable on the bed, Lydia had to admit. Too bad her lover was so adamant about sticking to the wall that her skirt already hiked up her thighs.

“Oh my God.” Maxine stepped away. “If I were a man, I’d be done already.”

Lydia wasn’t sure how she was supposed to take that. Nor was she sure what she was expected to do, now that she was left alone in a millionaire’s bedroom.I can’t even see what’s in here. The vague outline of a bed, a golden chandelier, seductive artwork on the walls… everything else was lost in the darkness of the room. Including Maxine, who pulled her phone out of her pocket and plugged it into the wall. A few seconds later, the thrums of wordless music came through the speakers above the bed.

Was that the scent of vanilla? Vanilla! Maxine had already seduced her. What did she think she was getting away with here? Trying to scare her away with herseduction shtick?
