Gideon grabbed a t-shirt from his side of the closet and tossed it at me.
“Thanks.” I slipped it on before turning back to my computer.
“I can meet you downstairs for the meeting.”
The meeting?I’d completely forgotten about it. The hour was later than I normally woke. Eric was expecting my call almost an hour ago. “It’s fine if you want to wait for me. There’s nothing he’ll say that I won’t share with you later.”
Gideon nodded and came to sit at the small table taking the chair to my left. He’d be out of the camera’s view.
The app connected and a sleepy Eric answered.
“I woke you. I’m sorry,” I muttered wincing. It was my fault that I was late calling and poor Eric had to pay the price.
“It’s okay.” He rubbed his eyes sleepily before his brow pinched. “Who’s bed did you just wake up in?”
My eyes widened as I glanced at Gideon. Could Eric see him? “What?”
“You obviously just woke up and are clearly not in your room. There’s something you’re not telling me.” Eric was a curious one, but he respected me so if I shut him down, he’d leave it.
“And you should know if I’m not forthcoming then I don’t want to discuss it.”
“Fair enough.” He didn’t press but moved on. “Reed slipped his guard a few nights ago.”
“How am I just now hearing about this?”
“Because I just did. The man I put on him didn’t want a write up, so he tried covering for Reed.”
“Do you think he’s on to us?”
Eric nodded. “He knew enough to slip his guard on a night where he was supposed to be with his squad but wasn’t. They’ll lie for him. It’s a good alibi since no one can prove it isn’t true.”
“He’s up to something, Eric. With the comment he made when he left here…”
“About that, why didn’t you leave? You could have done a lot more from here than you’re doing from there. With the wolves you’re just a sitting duck waiting to be bait.”
“I couldn’t.” I glanced at Gideon feeling my heart swell at the sight of him there. Eric waited for me to elaborate, but when it became clear I was done speaking on the matter we said our goodbyes.
Eric was highly intelligent and I was sure he could put two and two together to realize it was a wolf’s bed I woke up in. He also wasn’t one to jump to conclusions without evidence. For now, I wouldn’t worry about him. My concern was for Reed and whatever he had planned.

“We’re going to be late,”I mumbled hopping into my jeans as I stumbled into the elevator.
“It’s fine. They can’t start without me.” Gideon slipped into his suit jacket. How he managed to dress so pristinely in less time than it took me to slip on jeans and a tank was beyond me.
I was doing up the button on my pants when Gideon grabbed my face claiming my lips with his. I forgot what I was doing and got lost in his mouth. My arms snaked around his neck as my tongue tasted him relishing his hands on my body. It was heady mix.
I didn’t even feel the elevator move just assuming it was my body’s reaction to Gideon. It wasn’t until someone cleared their throat that I realized not only had the car moved but had opened into Gideon’s office. A humorous looking Trey appeared. I didn’t think I’d ever seen him not sullen.
“You don’t have to mark her on our account, Gideon. We are all very aware that she is yours.”
Gideon tugged me tighter to his chest letting out a low growl, which had Trey fighting off a smile as he backed away, hands up, letting the Alpha know he wasn’t a threat.
“Gideon?” I wondered why his reaction was so challenging.
“You told him you were nearly killed last night?” Trey questioned with a raised brow. “He’s feeling the need to make sure you’re safe which includes those in his pack that don’t approve of the situation.”
“Which you don’t,” I stated judging by Gideon’s reaction.
