He doesn’t bother to read anymore of Gloria's email. No point. She’s quit for whatever reason, and he can't be concerned with it. She had been a great assistant for the last eight years, but now he has to find someone else–and quickly. At least for the next couple of weeks.

Thinking about temp agencies, Sebastian begins searching for them online when a knock sounds at his door.

"Come in," he says absently.

"Hello, Sebastian." Ted walks into his office.

Sebastian stops what he is doing and looks up at Mallory's father, his best friend of over fifteen years now. "Hello, Ted, what brings you to my side of town?" Sebastian leans back in his seat.

"I just dropped Mallory off to pick up her car. She's headed to a job interview.".

A job interview. Should he offer her a job? Would that be too distracting?

"She doesn't have much experience, and right now no one is hiring her. She is too stubborn and doesn't want to work for me. Doesn't want handouts," Ted explains, taking a seat across from Sebastian's desk.

"What about me?" Sebastian questions. "My personal assistant quit last minute, and I could really use someone this week."

"She might consider it." Ted nods his head. "Let me call her."

Sebastian closes out of the agency numbers he found. He is almost certain Mallory will jump at the opportunity to work for him.

"She’s only a couple of minutes away. Said she will come by and talk to you and you guys can figure it out."

"Sounds perfect."

Sebastian and Ted catch up and decide to have beers Thursday night after Sebastian's big meeting. Ted tells him they will have to celebrate and stands to leave just as Mallory walks into the office.

"Ah, here she is now." Ted kisses her on top of the head. "I'll let you two talk business."

"Thanks, Daddy," Mallory murmurs as her father walks out, closing the office door behind him.

"Thank you for coming. Please have a seat." Sebastian gestures to a chair across from his desk.

Mallory takes a seat and smooths down her black skirt, her moments jerky. Sebastian hides a smile.

"Why am I really here?" Mallory wants to know.

"As it so happens, my personal assistant quit with no warning. I was going to reach out to a temp agency, but your father informed me you were looking for a job. I'm sure I will pay you more than any other job will offer you."

"How much is the pay? And what job will I be doing exactly?"

"The pay is twenty-five dollars an hour. For that, you will answer the phone and take messages. You’ll answer emails that don't require my attention, forward the ones that do. You’ll manage my schedule, do any errands I need you to do. You will basically take care of all of my needs." His eyes are dark as they study her.

"All of your needs." Mallory echos. "What about your dark desires?"

Sebastian leans back in his chair studying her. "I have a feeling you will handle that as well."

Mallory's breath catches as she studies him, and he knows what she sees. Sebastian is well dressed and in shape. He’s wearing a gray business suit and his dark hair is smooth. His green eyes stare straight at her.

She bites her lip. "When would I start?"

"Now." He can tell his answer startles her.

"Who will train me?"

"I will, of course." He leans forward, arms resting on his desk.

"What hours will I work?"
