CHAPTER 8

Aurora

Not long after Oren had told me I belonged to not just one Voltan warrior, but two, I’m ushered back to the barracks by my escort. It’s not the blond woman this time who escorts me back, but Lieutenant Crom.

As soon as he sees me, all flushed and pink-faced from my time with Oren, he grins. “It’s good to be the Colonel,” he remarks, scenting the air as if he can smell exactly what took place between the handsome officer and me.

Dropping my gaze to the floor, Crom walks me back to the barracks. All the women but one are already in bed as I climb into my own. Cadence is still missing. As fearful as I am for her, I’m so exhausted that I pass out the moment my head hits the pillow and I don’t wake again until late the next morning.

Knox

It’s been a long day in the field. Spooning flavorless stew from my MRE pouch into my hungry mouth, I think about my phone call with Oren. I’ve been tracking a suspect all day, so I haven’t even had time to find out how the auction went last night until my squad mate coms me and gloats, “Mission accomplished,” with the biggest shit-eating grin imaginable painted across his classically handsome features.

Rarely do I regret my choice of being a field soldier. I’ve no interest in climbing the military ranks like Oren does. However, today is one of those rare occasions I envy his status and position. Especially after he’s told me how our new draftee responded on stage. And off.

Jealousy isn’t an emotion I’m used to. When I want something, I just take it, but this is different. I’m a thousand miles away from Aurora. Our mate. Until I’ve finished my mission, it’s going to remain that way. To put it bluntly, I’m far from happy about it.

Shit! I was so turned on by the news about Aurora, that I had to curb my sexual appetite by beating off several times in the shower. After recounting what he’d done to our mate last night, in painfully vivid detail, I had no other choice. Oren could be such an asshole. He’d told me about how perfect her lush curves were. How pink her pussy was. How she’d come so hard when he’d fingered her that he’d thought her cunt might cut off circulation to his cock once he was allowed to plow inside of her. How he had marked her.

Though I knew I could trust my squad mate with my life, I’d honestly wondered if he’d be able to keep his word and not fuck Aurora until I got home. If our roles were reversed, I’m not sure I’d be able to keep mine. Especially after he described how she smells. So ripe and ready for our seed.

That was probably the reason Oren had made it to the top brass while I’m more suited to fieldwork. I like direct action: a weapon in my hand and an obvious mission laid out in front of me. Oren is a long-term planner: strategic, methodical and orderly. Our differences suit us well, and I know, without ever having even laid eyes on her, Aurora will too.

My dick thickens again as I recall all the filthy details Oren had shared about our sultry mate. As soon as I’m done with my stew, I’m going to have to find a private place to rub one out again so that I can clear my head and focus on my current mission. After all, the sooner I find my target, the sooner I get to go home to Aurora.

“Captain Forsythe,” one of my men calls out, as he hesitantly approaches.

I’m in charge of a special unit of soldiers that is composed of human men with Voltan leadership. It’s my job to train the most elite soldiers and take them to the next level. I’m pleasantly surprised to admit that these humans are an impressive group of men. They are hardworking, enterprising, and uniquely gifted in their individual fields. In truth, I couldn’t be prouder of them if they’d been my own people.

“At ease, soldier,” I command, and the well-disciplined man immediately drops his salute. “Speak freely.”

“We’ve found him, Captain,” Lieutenant Mason relays without preamble.

He doesn’t need to say the name. I know who he’s referring to because we’re only looking for one person. Our target. The one I need to find before I can go home and begin training a shy redhead who likes being spanked and goes off like a dirty bomb in your hands when she cums.

I only have one question as I throw the rest of my stew into the woods. “Where?”

“Five klicks to the west of here, Captain. He’s in an abandoned farmhouse surrounded by his personal bodyguards,” Mason informs me.

“You’re sure it’s him?” I pose, needing confirmation before I get my hopes up. We’ve been looking for this bastard for weeks. Until now, there’s been no sign of him.

“The target has been confirmed by two separate sources, sir. It’s about as close to sure as we can get,” Mason returns with a proud smile.

We’re moving back toward base camp before I say, “Is everyone ready to move out?”

“Affirmative. Our camp has been cleared, cleaned, and all the men are ready to hump it over to the coordinates as soon as you give them the order.”

My cock thumps against my fatigues at the thought of facing my target one on one. Not just because I love the thrill of the kill, but because I know that means I’m one step closer to mating my woman by ridding the world of the odious trader known as “Judas”.

Aurora

After breakfast, we’re told to head back to the barracks and collect our belongings. The draftees are bound for their new homes, and we’re all nervous. Even the self-assured Amy. As Lieutenant Crom predicted, she’s been awarded to a group of men from D Block. Five of them pooled their money together to afford her contract.

Even though I’m still reeling over the realization that I will have two masters, I can’t imagine what it would be like to learn I have five! Somehow though, I think Amy will be alright. She doesn’t seem like the type of girl to wallow for long. As I look at her now, humming to herself as she strips her bed of last night’s sheets, I think I could learn a thing or two from the brazen woman. Namely, how I deal with my problems in the secular world, a very daunting task for a religious girl who grew up as sheltered as I did.

“Do you think they’ll let us stay in contact?” Cadence inquires, as she busily strips the sheets from her bunk as well.

I sigh, having asked myself the same thing. However, I didn’t even have a phone back home. At least, not one for my personal use. Not even my parents had their own com devices. There was a community one we used in times of emergencies, but most technology was considered “worldly” and “corruptive” by our religious leaders and therefore was off limits.
