“It’s understandable.”
“But I don’t want to diminish the excitement I feel. I am truly happy.” I smiled and reached over, placing a hand on Milo’sstomach. “I’m going to be a father times two. Do you think it will be much different having two than just one?”
“Probably.” Milo looked down at my hand. “I heard from GSC. They want me to come back to the office.”
“Okay, when are we going?”
“Just like that? Don’t you need to stay here?”
“No. I mean, I’ll miss my family but I think I’m good on the training. Wolf agrees.” I sat up on the picnic blanket, careful not to wake Willow. “I’m no longer blowing things up. The tempering spell on Willow is working. She has limited ability now and the protection over it will allow her to learn to control her powers while preventing harm to herself or other innocents.”
“But we would be far from everyone.” Milo sat up as well, crossing his legs and facing me. “I want to go back to the headquarters and continue my work there. But I don’t want to take you away from everything.”
“Milo, if I have you, Willow, and now our baby, I have everything.” Reaching out, I brushed his cheek with my knuckle. “I think a new start somewhere else might be a good thing.”
“You do?” Milo blinked up at me, a slow smile growing on his face.
“I do.” I matched his energy, allowing him to fully sense what I was feeling about the situation. “Besides, maybe I can stay home with the kids. I can take a few years off to help them develop their skills. Maybe homeschool them as they get older. Travel with you if you need to go out of town for an assignment.”
“That could be arranged.” Milo’s smile grew wider. “That actually sounds like an amazing idea.”
“Good.” I leaned in and kissed my mate. “Then let’s do it.”
“Do what?” Hendrix plopped down next to us and stole a banana out of our picnic basket. “The move?”
“How did you know?” Milo frowned. “I only just found out.”
“You forget.” Hendrix tapped the side of his head. “I know things. And this thing? Well, I know it’s exactly the move you need to take. It will be good for all of you.”
“You sure?” Milo tilted his head. “All of Nik’s family is here though.”
“You won’t always be so far away. Trust me, you will be traveling back here frequently.” Hendrix chuckled. “Maybe too frequently at times. But you and I will be needed out at the headquarters soon.”
“You will be there too?” I wasn’t sure why Hendrix would be leaving the center.
“Not quite yet but soon. It’s not time yet to reveal the details.” Hendrix closed his eyes and smiled. “But soon, all will make sense.”

“Welcome back.” Travis stood at the door to my office and offered a smile. “How does it feel to be in the office again after being away so long?”
“Honestly?” I looked around the room and at the pile of files already waiting for me on my desk, the cup of coffee in my favoriteSecret Agent Manmug and smiled. I still couldn’t believe it had only been two weeks since I told Nik GSC wanted me back. He made sure to make everything work quickly so I could return to my job. He knew that I couldn’t wait to dig back into some cases and protect fellow shifters in need. “It’s amazing.”
“I’m glad to hear that. We were all afraid we were going to lose another agent to the training center. Especially when we heard who your fated mate was. When you verified that you were returning after your assignment there was over, I swear there was an audible exhale heard throughout the office.”
“Shut up. You guys knew I’d be back. I’m addicted to the long hours and stale coffee.”
“Hey. We upgraded the coffee to Pink Coffee Café’s special roast. No more stale bitterness here.”
Really?” I took my first sip of the rich brown brew and moaned. “Fuck. That’s good.”
“Told you.” Travis pushed away from the doorway and came to sit on the other side of my desk. “Is Nik seriously okay with moving across the country from his family? Not that I want you to leave us, but I don’t want to come between two mates either.”
“Are you kidding me? The moment I told him you guys wanted me back here, he began looking at homes for sale in the area. He said staying home with his little girl for those months before I met him, made him realize that he just wanted to stay home and nourish his child.” I placed a hand on my stomach and chuckled. “And with this one coming in a few months, he wants to dedicate his time to them. We don’t know if Junior here will be as powerful as his sister, but even if he has only half the ability she does, Nik will have his hands full teaching them control over that much power.”
“I thought he put a spell over her. Is it not working?”
