“Marry me. Let me prove to you my feelings are true, and they won’t ever fade. You’re my mate, Eden. My other half. You’ve driven me crazy since the very first day we met. I want this. I wantyouin my life, for good.”

“I love you too,” I mumbled, swiping at my face. “I’m sorry, I’m a mess. I was so scared you’d find out and you’d leave and I’d be alone and…” A laugh bubbled up my throat. It sounded so ridiculous now. “But you’re mine.”

“I’m yours.” He stood and hugged me. I let myself sink into his loving embrace, breathing in his woodsy scent.Mine…“You don’t have to say yes right now, but I wanted to make sure you knew how I felt. I love you, Eden Elric. You make me happy.”

“Yes,” I whispered, holding out my left hand. Beaming at me, Oakley slid a thin silver band onto my ring finger, glistening with a rainbow of diamonds. In the center sat a large rock. I touched the diamond, then threw my arms around my mate’s neck. “I love you so much. Don’t ever change.”

He chuckled. “I don’t plan on it, babe. Now, tell me… Are you ready to stuff your face with muffins? Or is the maybe-baby gonna put a kink in my devious breakfast plans?”

My heart leapt with a surge of happiness. I patted my belly with a smile. There was a chance that I wasn’t pregnant, but if I was? We’d take it day by day.

“If the baby’s anything like his daddy, I have the feeling that muffins areexactlythe kind of food he’ll enjoy.”

Oakley’s brows jumped. “He?”

I shrugged. “Gut feeling?”

He grinned even bigger and placed his hands over mine. “I like the sound of that.”

And honestly? I kind of did too.
