“Max, Omigod Max, don’t stop,” she sobbed. After that, she could only moan and croon her pleasure until the intensity of her orgasm made her scream his name, followed by a series of inarticulate wails.
That quickly sent Max over the summit, and he shouted his ecstasy as her inner walls squeezed his cock with the force of her orgasmic contractions, milking his semen until they were both spent.
“Ah, my Falyn. My beautiful mate being with you like this fills me with joy, and I love you more than I ever dreamed.” He said the words, looking straight into her eyes, so she knew he meant them.
“Before you came into my life, I was merely surviving. You were what was missing. And I love you with all my heart.”
Chapter Twenty-Six
Two Months Later
All the members of Max’s ranger team had converged on Falyn’s and now his homestead with their mates two days before their wedding. Vyken Dark and his wife Danya also came to lead the ceremony.
Since the bombing of Earth, marriage had become a registration process, and ceremonies were optional. Max had seen one in the entertainment archives and hadn’t thought about it again until he claimed Falyn as his mate.
When Max sent out the invitation to his brothers in arms, they didn’t just want to attend; they wanted to be part of the ceremony and marry their mates, too. Vyken was invited because he had called them back to Earth, leading them to find their genetic mates.
Six portable prefab huts stood in a row at the meadow’s edge at the tree line to house each couple separately. Everyone had gotten new clothing for the wedding. The cyborgs wore military dress uniforms and gathered near the rough-hewn trellis archway, swapping stories of evacuating the ruins for rebuilding each of their territories. They had been dressed and groomed for an hour before the appointed time.
Their mates were getting ready in the house. Falyn felt a little shy at first when she met the other women. For many years, she lived alone with her animals on her homestead. Millie had been one of her only friends, and they only saw each other every few months.
She needn’t have worried. They welcomed her into their group. Blaze’s mate Phoebe was homesteading like Falyn. Darken’s mate Gina specialized in aerated concrete construction, while Stalker’s mate Neely finished law enforcement training, becoming a protector. Vyken’s wife, Danya, who was just showing pregnant, was an educator at the Enclave Learning center near new Chicago. Shadow Hawk and Falcon Rader had been matched from the genetic database of women hoping to find a cyborg mate. This gathering was the first time meeting them.
They shared how they met their mates on their first evening together. Jenna’s and Alia’s first sight meeting were tame compared to the others. Jenna was from New Chicago, and Shadow Hawk picked her up at her home and took her out to dinner. Falcon Rader met Alia in his territory, and they went sightseeing on his sky cycle and stopped to have a picnic.
It almost seemed like an elite club.
“The thing about these guys is that you never have to wonder where you stand with them. Their only fault is they are a little possessive, and the only time they get angry at you is if you carelessly put yourself in danger.”
“Do you want to know something infuriating?” Phoebe asked. “When I get angry about something, he is so damn calm and reasonable.”
They all laughed.
“There are no silly games or chasing other women. You know they love you and only you,” said Danya. “You can all go on the matchmaking database from your com-tablets to tell other women considering applying for a cyborg match.”
“I like having the freedom to do the things I love,” Gina said. “I’ve helped build a lot of new houses.”
“I’m learning how to fly,” said Phoebe.
The conversation drifted away from being mated to cyborgs to the things those relationships freed them to do. They didn’t have to live in a continued state of survival mode.
Each bride had a different style and color of dress for the occasion. Falyn’s was a pale green mint color. The bodice was fitted with a partially gathered skirt that was long in the back and mid-thigh length in the front. Underneath, she wore a matching pair of leggings. Gina and Phoebe chose a similar style in pale yellow and pale blue. Neely and the others chose ankle-length dresses in lavender, pink, aqua, and a piece of shimmery fabric that combined pastel colors. Each outfit had matching sandals.
Each couple brought a dish to pass for the wedding meal. Starting the ceremony, the women came outdoors and down the steps with crowns of flowers in their hair. Danya led and joined Vyken under the trellis. The other women joined their mates in turn.
“Before we repeat our vows, I want you all to know I hold you in high esteem for your accomplishments in restoring law and order to the Enclave territories. I didn’t want to return to a devastated Earth after all the years of war. The one thing that changed my mind was the possibility of finding Danya, my mate. I think that’s why we all came back. It was not the empty promise we all thought. Our promised mates are here. Finding them was up to us. And, now, here we are.”
“Repeat after me and fill in the proper name. I, Vyken Dark, take you, Danya Hill as my beloved lifelong mate. I will protect, honor, and care for you and any offspring we make. I am yours, and you are mine as long as I draw breath.”
When the males finished, the women were led in the same vow by Danya. She pronounced them all husbands and wives and directed them to kiss their mates.
Their procession from the house and their brief ceremony was all recorded by bumblebee drones buzzing around, each couple repeating their vows.
They shared the meal they all prepared afterward, then each couple drifted off to consummate their marriage with love and great enthusiasm.
Epilogue
Before their group wedding, Max and Falyn had gone East to look at horses for Max to ride. He was only getting one for himself, but they looked at three to see which one he felt a connection with. They found his horse, a big black gelding draft horse with white on his face and white feathering on his legs.
