“I’m fine.” She brought a hand up to caress his face. “Are you? What happened?”
“My internal computer came back online overwhelming my mind with a flood of info and system checks as it re-integrated.” His erection had gone flaccid, and he pulled out of her. “With that all happening at the end of my orgasm, I passed out. Nothing like that has ever happened before.”
“But, you’re okay now?” She met his gaze worriedly, searching for any sign it might happen again.
He nodded with a tender smile. “I’ve never had an orgasm that good either.” With that admission, he kissed her lips gently.
She returned his kiss affectionately. “It was that good for me, too.”
“You were so worth waiting for…” he asserted.
His blatant admission brought tears to her eyes.
“Gina, why the tears,” he asked softly.
“That’s the nicest thing anyone ever said to me… and what it took to bring us together….”
Gina had learned the history of the cyborg mate program. The creators of the cyborg technology planted the lie in the minds of everyone that they would get their one genetic mate and their freedom when the war was finished. They were freed from service to the Federation, but no plan was ever made to find the promised mates.
Cyborg scientists had worked out the genetic markers that identified females who matched each cyborg. Women who wanted cyborg mates got scanned, and the AI network searched the database. The difficulty was the lack of mass communications in many parts of Earth that had regressed to 19th-century technology.
The Enclave was working to rebuild what was lost, and the cyborgs came back to help, with the hope they could find mates on their own. They had the technology; they just needed to build the database.
“I am still processing that you are mine, and I am yours.”
“I am your male, and I will always be.” He claimed her lips in a deep, passionate kiss that left them both longing for more.
The yipping and snarling of wolves sparring reminded him that they should get up and dress because Captain Savage was sending transport for them. He had been looking for his brother for the last three days after Darken suddenly went offline.
“We have to go,” he lamented.
“Now?”
“It will arrive in 18.5 minutes.”
Gina sighed dramatically. “Yeah, I guess we better get dressed.” As they got up to dress, the wolves came closer, watching them. “What are they doing? I can’t believe they followed you all this way.”
“I am the alpha, and you are my mate,” Darken said as though that should explain everything. “They are our pack,” he added at her quizzical look.
“That white one is beautiful. She looks like she is the queen.” Gina pulled on her pants and watched them. They seemed docile, almost like big dogs, watching and waiting for a signal from their alphas on what they should do next.
“That is an accurate assessment. She is the alpha female,” Darken said.
“Then that’s what I am going to call her, Queen.” Gina paused for a few seconds to watch the wolves. “What will happen to them when we leave?”
“They will regroup. Queen and her mate will lead again.”
“It seems like they were watching over us while we were breeding. Do you think they will be all right?”
“They are apex predators. I’m sure they will be fine. Now that I have met them, I am proud to call myself one of them.”
“They look so much like big dogs….”
“But they are not dogs. They are wild animals, meant to be free,” Darken said gently.
Gina nodded. “They are so beautiful, now that they are not trying to kill us.”
“We will come back and check on them. Will that make you feel better?”
