Telling me without words how he felt.

And I marveled in it.

When he pulled his lips from mine, he winked, “You ready?”

At my nod, he winked, tagged my hand, and then led me out to his SUV.

Twenty minutes later, I was frowning at the walking trail.

I looked down at my heels, then over at him.

He caught my look, winked, then pulled my tennis shoes from the back and handed them to me.

I winked, “If we don’t hurt each other and can be honest, it means we’re not fighting hard enough to make this work.”

He nodded, then kissed me senseless, then I whispered against his lips, “You know what would be a great fantasy?”

He winked, “What’s that?”

“To make love to you in a field of wildflowers and not have to worry about bugs crawling into places they shouldn’t be.”

“You had my cock rock hard, then you ruined it.” He said dryly.

I laughed in his face.

I curled up, got comfortable, opened my Kindle, scrolled to my newest book from my TBR, and started reading.

I was sighing.

Laughing.

Crying.
