“Jett, it's no big deal. I can go hang out with Stevie.”

I pull her back to me. “No, it is a big deal. Listen, Wy, if you don’t want to, that is perfectly okay. But, if I have a choice, I want you there. I can’t say you’ll get to come with me every day this week, so any time I can get with you I wanna take.”

Iwant to take Wyla on a date. This may not be what either of us had in mind but who cares, I would get to spend time with her and that’s all that matters.

She bites at her lip for a moment. “Okay, I’ll come, but since I’ll be there until the game starts I want to change.”

Change? Why? She looks incredible. “You don’t have to. This dress is—”

She places her hands on my chest to push me back. “I promise you’ll love this other outfit so much more.”

With my interest—and dick—piqued, I let her go and head out to get the stuff I need for the game.

I grab my bag with a quick glance to make sure everything is in there. I still left a lot of stuff at the clubhouse yesterday but I usually have a go-to bag ready with some extra toiletries for a shower, and some cards to play with in our downtime.

“Okay, what do you think?” Wyla says as I close the closet door.

I turn to her… and I’m fucked. We’re never leaving this apartment.

She got on a pair of jean shorts with some high top Converse sneakers on, a Maverick’s ball cap and jersey.

“Wait, wanna see the best part?” Wyla’s smile is full force as she turns to show me the back of the jersey.

I won’t have to make a decision about quitting baseball now because they will fire me for blowing off this game for sex.

But it would be sex with Wyla in my fucking jersey. My number is on her back, and her soon to be last name too.

I throw her over my shoulder and she giggles. “Jett, we’re supposed to be leaving.”

I toss her back on the bed. “We’ve got some time.”

“We’re supposed to be picking up lunch. You know, ‘something on your meal plan.’” Wyla does the little quotation marks with her hands.

“Oh, baby, this pussy is the only thing on my meal plan right now.”

Chapter 28

Much to my dismay this pregame practice didn’t happen with the players wearing baseball pants. It was still hot to watch Jett though.

Don’t even get me started on watching him catch balls in the outfield during batting practice. I couldn’t decide what was sexier—when he’d catch the ball like it was nothing or when he would actually have to run and dive for it.

They finished up with practice about half an hour ago and he’s been in the locker room ever since. He texted me to hang tight in this little family waiting area nearby.

I’m dying for him to come out because if he thinks this jersey was the best part of my outfit today, he’s wrong. When I ordered this one, I might have also placed a custom order tank top as well.

I glance at my phone—it’s a little after four, and Rose texted me a bit ago that they would head over to thestadium around five so we can scope out some seats. Jett said they like to reserve a couple rows behind home plate for family, but we are also welcome to sit in the friends and family box up top.

“Hey, Wyla,” Adam says, walking up to me.

“Oh, hey.” I try to sound normal. I’m still not entirely confident in being here.

“They’re making Jett stretch and ice his shoulder.” Adam takes the seat next to me. “And Nick is hovering, much to Jett’s annoyance. He’s been chomping at the bit to get back out here to you.”

“I’m good here. I’m crashing his day so I don’t mind waiting.”

Adam chuckles. “Actually, I think if you asked him, we’re the ones crashing his week with you.”

That pit of guilt I had when I first found Jett has now morphed into guilt about not moving here. His week with you. I know Adam didn’t have any underhanded meaning to it, but my intrusive thoughts want to feed off of it.
