“I know, but hear me out, okay?” When I don’t get a definite no, I take that as a plus. “Come for the week, we’ll be playing in Seattle the whole time. My new apartment is available now so there’s a room for Stevie.”

She’s quiet for a bit again. I’m not entirely sure if it's in my favor or not.

“But what about my job? What about your games and practices?”

“My stuff is no problem. You and Stevie can come with me if you want, stay at the apartment, explore the city… whatever you want, baby.” I sit up on my elbow, turning toward her. “I understand if you can’t take off from your job, but it would be a lie if I said it wouldn’t make me feel a million times better about you not being there for Matt’s last week of work.”

Wyla chews on her bottom lip, contemplating her options. I think I’ve almost got her.

I pull the tie of her robe loose. She arches her back slightly to let the sides fall, showing her hard, pink nipples.

I place a small kiss on her shoulder. “Come on, Wy.” I slide on top of her, letting my thigh rest heavily in between hers. “We could spend every night in bed like this.” I kiss her collarbone. “Wake up together every morning.” I inch my way down her chest with another kiss.

“I think you’re forgetting we’ll have a child with us.” She chuckles.

Another inch then a kiss. “I didn’t forget, she’ll sleep eventually, and you’ll be all mine.” Kiss. “Come on, baby.” I brush my lips over her nipple lightly then kiss right below it and her body writhes beneath me. “I’ve missed you like crazy.”

I kiss her sternum. “Please?” I kiss up her other breast at the same slow pace.

Wyla grinds her hips against my thigh and tries to angle herself where she wants me to be. Normally, I love when she tries to take some control but not this time.

I repeat the same light graze on her other nipple then place a harder kiss right above it.

“Jett,” she moans.

I drag myself up her body, letting my thigh grind into her, and soak up her next moan with a kiss. “Whether you decide to come this week or not, baby, I’m still going tofuck you all night. I don’t know if this has clicked for you yet, but I’m so fucking obsessed with you it’s ridiculous. But if you need a little space after—”

“We’ll come,” she cuts me off. “I don’t want space, not even a little. As a matter of fact,”—Wyla pushes on my chest, and while in no way can she actually push me over I pretend she does and let her climb on top of me—“consider this my condition, if Stevie isn’t around, I want zero space between us. Negative space really.”

Wyla moves to take off her robe then unbuttons my jeans and we slide them off.

As she crawls back on top, she whispers. “I believe we have some lost time to make up for.”

Chapter 25

After a switch from a late night flight to an early one on Sunday, and with the time change, we finally touch down in Seattle around one in the afternoon.

I wasn’t entirely sure how Stevie would handle this nearly seven-hour flight but considering Jett got us all first-class tickets, it was kind of a breeze. There were TVs on the back of the chairs which entertained her for quite a bit, then Jett had the flight attendant bring her coloring books and crayons. And when we got desperate, snacks were ready to go.

As we get our luggage and head out to the exit, something very crucial dawns on me.

“Wait, how are we getting to your place?”

Jett chuckles. “We’re going to drive. My buddy Adam picked up my car and is waiting out front.”

“Does Adam play baseball with you, Daddy?” Stevie asks as she swings their joined hands back and forth.

“He does. He’s the team’s catcher.”

Before Stevie can ask a minimum of five more questions, I have to butt in. “But what about Stevie? She needs a car seat.”

Why did I not think of this earlier? I thought I actually thought this through but apparently not. We’re supposed to be here all week and it didn’t even register to me that we would be driving places and need a car seat.

“Wy, hey.” Jett’s voice pulls me back to reality. “Don’t worry, I got it.”

Don’t worry.I think I actually like that saying now.

We make our way to the exit with Stevie insisting we swing her along the way. “Again, again, again!” Stevie cheers.
