It was a good damn thing.

I shot a look at him as I slid onto the leather seat. Where I expected to see fury, I only saw concern.

I closed the door, knowing my father had a lot of secrets. He and his men. I’d work on that later, though. Right now, I had a destiny to fulfill.

ENZO

Itapped my foot on the floor, all the nervous energy coursing through me. Dom was in and out of it. Awake. Sleeping. He was on so many meds that the guy didn’t even know if he was dead or alive, so there was no way anyone could talk to him. He was being kept on a psych hold in addition to being treated for the damage he’d done to himself.

Cole stepped out to go down the block for what he called real coffee. I couldn’t stand his bitching any longer and told him to go and get us all something.

Fox and E were getting food in the cafeteria, and Vincent and Levin sat with Dom. That left me to my own devices.

I let my thumb hover over Anson’s name for a second before finally giving in and tapping it. The phone rang several times before his deep voice greeted me.

“Hello.”

“I hope you have what I asked for,” I said.

He was quiet for a moment. “I-I don’t. Not right now.”

I raised my eyebrows at that. I thought for sure he’d have something for me.

“I thought you’d work a little harder, considering what was at stake.”

“Fuck you, De Luca. Don’t throw that shit at me,” he snapped back. “I’m working on it.”

I nodded even though he couldn’t see me. “Well, Beyers, I’m going to need you to fucking work harder. My kindness only extends so far. You’ve about reached its limits.”

“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” he demanded, his anger apparent.

“It means as easily as I can extend my kindness, I can also revoke it. So work. Fucking.Harder.” I hung up, feeling agitated. Drake wasn’t answering my calls, so that was pissing me off even more.

“You look unhappy,” E said, sitting next to me. Fox followed and took up the spot across from me, a bag of chips in his hands.

“I am,” I muttered.

“What’s going on?” Fox asked, a frown on his face.

I rubbed my eyes, my lack of decent sleep getting to me. “I suspect Bianca is still out there. You guys know that. I’m just getting dead ends.”

“As much as I hope she is, I don’t think it’s possible,” E murmured.

Fox nodded but didn’t say anything.

“Hey, I got coffee, and it doesn’t taste like a sack of ground-up dicks.” Cole stopped in front of me and handed me a cup before going to Fox and E and giving them theirs. He flopped down in the chair beside me and sipped at something with whipped cream. He winked at me when I shook my head at him.

I was about to say a soft prayer when my phone rang. I looked at the guys as Drake’s name appeared on the screen. Cole leaned forward, and E cleared his throat.

“See what he knows,” Fox said.

I nodded and swiped to answer.

“Hey, I’m just calling to update you. I got into Hail’s accounts. There’s nothing there. We’ve got nothing.” Drake’s words carried through the phone.

“He’s not my concern right now.” I kept my voice low.
