“Gods,” Andy gasped, then frowned again. “But he wasn't missing a hand. Hayden, I mean.”

Devon opened his mouth to answer, then hesitated. “It…um. It was Doctor Crawford,” he said quietly.

“Oh.”

“He helped Hayden regenerate it,” Devon went on. “Took them a whole week to do it, but it worked.” Devon saw the tight look on Andy's face, then cleared his throat. “But, yeah. Hayden's parents were there,” he went on, getting back to the original topic. “At the wedding, I mean. That was awkward. They looked so embarrassed.”

Andy chuckled. “The couple on the right? Yeah, they were definitely not cut out for voyeurism.”

“Yeah,” Devon said with a laugh.

“Not like you,” Andy added in a murmur.

Devon felt his cheeks go red-hot.

Andy studied him, a smile slowly spreading across his face. “You moved.”

“What?”

Andy nodded downward.

Devon looked down at himself and gasped. He hadn't even noticed the attack had ended. He'd turned to face Andy without even thinking about it.

Andy reached out and rested a hand on Devon's knee.

Devon shuddered. “Thank gods,” he whispered, feeling the touch through the thin fabric of his pajama pants.

Andy brushed a hand down Devon's cheek, then asked, “You ready for breakfast?”

Devon was about to sayyes, feeling his stomach growl.

But he wanted something more than food.

Andy must have seen it on his face. The man shoved their coffee mugs aside, scooped Devon up in his arms, and ran for the bedroom.

Chapter 22

ANDY SET his car to autopilot, freeing himself up to look at Devon.

The boy sat in the passenger seat, gazing out the window. He had a serene smile on his face, his skin still slightly flushed and glowing from their second round in bed.Gods. Devon was so needy and responsive. The boy had come in a matter of minutes. Whether it was from an attack—his nerve endings not disconnected but running on overdrive—or from sheer touch starvation, Andy wasn't sure. But he'd spent the next hour teasing and touching Devon, getting him worked up all over again so he could make them come together.

Devon's smile slipped, and he started rocking slightly in his seat.

“Baby?” Andy asked. “What's wrong?”

“I'm hungry,” Devon mumbled.

“I'm sorry. We should have done breakfast first.”

Devon shook his head. “I finally know what I've been missing all my life,” he said quietly, a blush slowly coming back to his cheeks.

Andy grinned. “Well, next time, I'm going to make sure you eat first. Gotta keep up your strength.”

Devon's eyes flashed. “Next time?”

“Oh yeah.”

Devon smiled shyly and looked away.
