Chapter 84

Flynn

She was adorable even when she slept. I was propped up on my elbow, lying beside her on the bed. I'd been watching her for at least a half-hour as the morning sun filtered in through the bedroom windows.

Her hair was a tumbled mess, flowing over her naked shoulders and onto the pillow, just like it had last night when I'd taken her for the second time, naked and sweet, like she was now.

Her breasts were exposed, and her nipples were rosy in the filtered light. So were her lips, so pink and so sweet. I wanted to kiss her, but I held back, knowing there'd been plenty of time forthatlater.

I loved her.

I'd told her only the one time, back at the restaurant. She hadn't said it in return, but she didn't need to. Last night, I'd seen it in her eyes and heard it in her voice.

She was a goner, whether she realized it or not.

Good.

Because I wasn't going to let her go.

She was mine.

When her eyelids fluttered open, I whispered, "You're adorable when you sleep, you know that?"

She gave me a drowsy smile. "Liar."

"No lie here," I said. "I took pictures. You wanna see?"

With a gasp, she bolted upright in the bed. "You didn't."

I laughed. "You're right. And you wanna know why?"

"Why?"

"Because I don'twantpictures. I want the real thing." I pulled her into my arms. "And I don't mean for just one night."

Laughing, she gave me a mock push, even as I held her tight against me. She said, "You're horrid. You know that?"

"Hell yeah. And you love it."

She pulled back and gave me a dazzling smile. "I lovesomething."

Her smile was contagious, and I replied, "Tell me."

"Actually, it's not a something, but a someone." She leaned her forehead against mine and softly said, "You."

The single word warmed my stone-cold heart. I cradled her close and said into her hair. "Oh yeah?"

She nodded against me. "Definitely, even if youareimpossible." She hesitated. "But wait, you never said… Last night, about Jack, why'd he leave so suddenly?"

I recalled the look on Jack's face when he'd told me that he was leaving early. "He didn't say. But he wasn't happy, I can tell you that."

"Why?" she asked.

"When I find out, I'll let you know." Assuming that I everdidfind out. One thing about Jack, he had more than his share of secrets. But I couldn’t think about that now. My head was too filled with thoughts of the girl in my arms.

Nuzzling closer, she said, "Speaking of letting me know, I'm just curious…When did you realize it was something more?"

"Between us? Not soon enough." To think, if I hadn't pulled my head out of my ass when I did, I might've lost her forever.
