Sunlight filters through the curtains, kissing my cheek with a hint of warmth. Burrowing myself under the covers, I groan at the thought of waking. I’m warm and cozy in my nest, and could happily stay here for the rest of the day.
Images from last night drift through my mind, and a small smile spreads across my face. Chase had picked me up for a late meal, our reservations for eight-thirty. He had whisked me off to a steak and seafood joint. It was nice without being pretentious, and we enjoyed our meal and the easy conversation that flowed as steadily as the wine.
My eyes fly open when I remember what came after that, and I raise my arms above my head in a long stretch, feeling the soreness between my legs. Chase was everything I had been hoping for; kind, attentive, and unselfish in bed. Three orgasms he wrung out of me last night.
I had been desperately needing them, and he definitely came through. Patting the bed next to me, I’m a little disappointed to find it empty and cold.I guess he wasn’t interested in staying,I think to myself as I sit up, rubbing my hands over my face. Hopefully, this won’t make things awkward at the office.
It’s then that the smell of coffee and bacon reaches me, and I can’t help the smile that spreads across my face. After doing my business in the bathroom, I throw on a silk dressing gown and pad downstairs with bare feet. Breakfast is set out on the table; eggs, bacon, pancakes, and a fruit salad.
I’m going to need to have him spend the night more often if this is what I have to look forward to in the mornings. Not seeing him in the kitchen, I walk around looking for him, before spotting him out on the porch.
“ … no, I told you I’ve got it handled … yes … yes … no problem.” I catch the end of his conversation as I step outside, blinking against the bright sunlight filtering through the pines.
“Morning,” I say as he turns towards me, a smile on his face.
“Good morning, gorgeous,” he replies, pulling me into a hug and placing a kiss on top of my head.
“Who was that?”
“My dad. He wants me to come by and help him fix a few things for my mom.”
Smiling up at him, I take his hand, leading him back to the kitchen. “That’s nice of you to help them out. Anything you can’t handle?”
Chase takes a seat, his blonde hair flopping over his eye, lending him a dashing look. My cheeks tinge pink when I remember gripping that hair tightly as he ate me out last night.
Guessing where my mind has gone, he winks at me before replying, “Nah. Couple of loose boards on their deck. My dad has a bad back and can’t deal with it. I like to help out when I can.”
Piling food onto my plate, I realize just how hungry I am.A night of good sex will do that to you, I think with a grin.
While Chase is in the shower, I pull out my cell phone, shooting a text off to Dutch.
Me: Hey, thanks again for giving us the house last night.
Dutch: You’re welcome.
Me: Ugh, it was so good! I needed that haha I’ll give you the deets later. What time are you coming home?
Dutch: I’m going to stay out for one more night, see you at work tomorrow.
Huh. I hope I didn’t do something to piss her off.You did ask her not to come home last night. Sighing, I toss the phone onto the bed beside me. I’ll have to find a way to make it up to her.

Agent Cooper storms into the meeting room, his round face beetroot red. “Anyone seen Agent Buchanan this morning?” he shouts out, eyes narrowed as he scans over those of us that are here.
Glancing around, everyone shakes their head in the negative. Where the fuck is she? She said she’d see me this morning, but it’s nearly ten, and no sign of her.
“Agent Gerhardt, you two are roommates, yes?” I nod back at him. “When did you see her last?”
“Two days ago,” I reply. “She spent a couple of nights at a hotel. I spoke to her yesterday, she said she’d be here. Maybe she’s running late, got a flat tire or something.”
His brows furrow and he looks like he’s on the verge of a heart attack. To be fair, that’s how he usually looks.
“Is there something I can help you with, sir?” I ask, hoping to deflect his attention off of Dutch’s absence. She’s going to owe me for this, Agent Cooper is a jackass of the highest order.
“No, no, that’s fine. I’ll discuss it with her when she finally manages to get her ass in here.” He walks away grumbling, clearly irritated.
It’s not like Dutch hasn’t been pulling her weight around here.
