I’m frozen in place, rendered speechless by the stunning princess-cut diamond, as he continues. “Nikki, we’ve been living off pinky promises. How do you feel about turning them into wedding vows?”

His smile stays firm as he drops down to one knee while his eyes silently plead for my answer.

“Tony! Oh my God, yes! Yes!” I shout.

He quickly slides the ring off my pinky and onto my ring finger, where it shall stay forever.

He stands and lifts me off the floor as he pulls me into his arms, kissing me senseless. “Fucking finally,” he mumbles into my hair as I break out into a fit of giggles. “I’ve been waiting forever to propose to you.”

“Oh yeah?” I smile into his neck and place a quick kiss there. “And when did you get the time to get that tattoo on your finger?” I poke him in the chest.

He sets me on the counter. “Perks of small tattoos. The whole process takes twenty minutes or less, mi amor.”

I should have learned from the last secret tattoo he got for me.

“Good thing you said yes. I promised our little Moana/Ariel/Cinderella/real name Anna that I would marry the princess and live happily ever after.” He laughs.

“No way! That was the last pinky promise you shared with her?” I gasp as I realize what that means. “But wait, that can’t be right. You knew then? That you wanted to propose to me?”

“I knew the very first time we met,” he whispers over my lips.

How this man manages to raise the bar when it comes to making my heart soar will never make sense to me.

I kiss him tenderly as my mind slowly starts to absorb the fact that we just got engaged.

“I’m going to have to text Isabella to get tickets for a game this season, because I need to thank our sweet little Anna in person.” I kiss Tony’s cheek.

I lean in and wrap my arms around his neck and pull him to stand between my legs that dangle off the counter. I stare at the sparkling diamond in awe. “Nikki Nuñez,” I start, already buzzing with energy at the idea of finally having a last name that feels right. “Mrs. Nuñez, mi amor, corazón…” I count the names off with my fingers. “I don’t know, Tony, I’m racking up a long list of names for you to call me now,” I tease as his lips hover over mine.

“I already have a favorite.” His words fan over my lips.

“Oh yeah? Which is it?” I ask eagerly.

“My wife.”
