 I dropped the phone on the couch’s armrest and tried to stand. Bo’s arms went around me, holding me on his lap.
 
 “We don’t need to panic.” His voice was calm. Way too calm, considering the messages we’d just gotten.
 
 “Why wouldn’t we need to panic?!” I demanded. “The snow is too thick for me to leave. They’re looking for me. They’re eventually going to realize they should come here to check. If they do?—”
 
 “If they do, I’ll kill them.” Bo was still calm. Neutral. Unworried.
 
 “They won’t be hunting alone, Ambrose. There will be a whole group of them. If a dozen kitsunes show up here, one grizzly isn’t going to be enough to keep me away from them.”
