“I do too.” Lexi chuckles. “Thanks for bringing my car back.”

“Good times.” Shane laughs and takes off toward his car.

Ryder catches up with him, calling over his shoulder, “See ya around, Lexi.”

“I hope so,” she shouts with a wave, and we head back in the house to the kitchen.

Lexi peeks at the stove. “You know, we left those burgers on.” She sounds tentative, and I can feel the tension cut through the room.

I still haven’t answered her question. “Are they burned?” I open the fridge and grab a couple beers.

“To a crisp. I’m turning this thing off.” She flicks the knob, and I follow her to the table.

“Here.” I hand her the beer she’s probably going to need after she hears what I have to say.

“Thanks,” Lexi says softly.

“Are you cold in that robe?” I ask, sliding into the chair next to her. Her nipples are practically waving at me through the fabric. God, I cannot get enough of her. “Say you’re cold. I want to warm you up.”

“Stop changing the subject. You haven’t answered my question yet.” She tips the bottle, takes an impressive swig and then hiccups. “Sorry.” She wipes her pretty mouth with her sleeve.Hiccup.“I needed fortification here.” She laughs.Hiccup.“Wait.” She takes a big gulp of air, making her cheeks look like apples, and holds her breath.

“I’m not going anywhere,” I say, smiling, watching her, because she’s not only hot, she’s fucking irresistible. Lexi finally lets out a breath.

“Okay.” She casts her eyes up at me, and I can tell she’s scared. “Did you mean what you said to Maeve about me not going anywhere?”

I put my beer down and slide my chair back from the table. She’s too far away for this conversation. “Come here,” I invite her, patting my thighs. “This is a better spot for you.”

Lexi examines my lap, as if she has to give it some thought. Then she purses her lips and gets up. She drapes her arm around my shoulder, and her sweet-smelling hair tickles my cheek as she settles into my lap.

“Now that’s much better, honeypot.” I hold her close, remembering the first time she was in my arms when I carried her from that well. “Yes,” I whisper against her velvety cheek. “I meant every word I said.”

“Wait a minute.” She shifts, putting her beer down. “I need to look at you.” She turns back to me and cradles my face in her hands. There’s a fire igniting in those brown eyes. “You really meant it? When you said, when you made me say—” She blushes. “When we were having sex and you wanted me to say I belonged to you. You meant that?”

“We belong together, Lexi. That’s what I meant then and that’s what I mean now. You’re mine, and I don’t want to even think of you being with anyone else.”

I fucking swear her face lights up the room.

“So, I would just stay here?” she whispers. “Not go back to work? Not go home?”

“Yes.” I kiss her slowly, taking my time, relishing the taste of her, the softness of her mouth. “Fuck Vital Studios. I have my own production company,” I whisper against her lips. “You can work on your screenplays here, or we can write our own.”

She sweeps my bottom lip with her tongue and slides her hand down over my cock, which is, of course, hard as a rock after kissing her. “Will our movie be a porno?” She giggles.

“It could be.” I laugh. “God knows, with you here it could be. But I was thinking about something more mainstream.”

“You were? Hmm,” she teases, stroking my cock through my jeans. “Do tell.”

I bring my hand to her face, tracing her perfect cheekbone with my fingers. “It’s about this hot-as fuck-actor, who falls for this hot-as-fuck writer.”

“After he lassos her and rescues her from a well,” she purrs, nibbling on my bottom lip.

“That’s right.” I kiss her. “And then he rides for miles to help her because she hurt her ankle, and she pulls a knife on him.”

“Oh, I like it. How exciting.” She brushes her lips against my cheek. “And then they run into a drug operation—”

“And have a shootout, don’t forget.”

“And then the poor girl ends up on the gorgeous man’s lap and never wants to leave?” She grins, eyeing me.
