I had called him about something Krispin had shared with me a few weeks ago while we had been fishing on the dock.

He found them and the ten thousand dollars they had received to pay off their debt, and in exchange, their son would go to a home and be raised there until he was thirteen years old, then he would be turned out.

I rolled up to a house with my team and stared.

Then we moved.

Cassie had a fear that his birth parents would come for him one day.

I alleviated that fear.

‘Families don’t have to match. You don’t have to look like someone else to love them.’

– Leanne Tuohy.

Chapter 19

Alec

I placed my dog tags and my wedding band into the black ammo box along with my wallet and a leather necklace Krispin had made for me on Father's Day.

It had a Superman charm on it.

The rest of my team followed suit.

And then it was closed and would be locked up for safekeeping until the moment we were done.

And then, we locked eyes, nodded, and said, “Let’s rain hellfire.”

I took my dog tags, my ring, and my wallet and put them all back into place and pocketed the leather necklace.

And the moment we got on the plane to head home, I undid the chain, pulled my ring off, clasped it back, put it back around my neck, and slid my wedding band back on my finger.

Then I wove the leather necklace around my neck and attached it.

My team watched and then nodded.

The stewardess winked at me, and I held up my left hand.

That flirtatious look she had been wearing was now gone.

However, it had come back when she eyed Ice.

He shook his head, “Nope. His wife wouldn’t have flirted with one man and then moved on to the next.”

I grinned, “She’s one of a kind.”

“I’m going to find a way to clone her.” He said.

I reached over and punched him in the jaw, “The fuck you will.”

He laughed.

Then I was tempted to get out of my seat and beat the hell out of my team when they had agreed with Ice.

Fuckers.
