And when I introduced Krispin to all of them and called them Uncle, his little eyes went wide.
Now we were all moved in, and the women were in the dining room planning the wedding.
I had just come inside from putting up a jungle gym for Krispin, who was trailing at my side, when I heard Talia say, “But pictures.”
Their heads turned to us, and Krispin ran to hug Cassie.
"No. No cameras.” I shook my head.
“But...” Talia started.
“No,” I growled.
She took in a breath and said, “Explain it to me.”
I nodded, “Because if those get put on social media, I can be found. My team can be found, and they could potentially hurt the ones I care about.”
I knew Talia got it when she nodded.

I was at the island making dinner while Cassie had a long soak in the tub.
Krispin was standing on a step stool helping me when he asked, “Alec?”
I looked down at him from the onion I was chopping and said, “Yeah?”
“What did you mean earlier?” he asked.
I lifted a brow, “When?”
“When Aunt Talia was talking about the pictures.”
I nodded, “I’m in the military, Krispin. But I’m a part of a special organization. There are rules we have to follow, or those we really care about could get hurt.”
He nodded.
Then, as Cassie and I were tucking him in, he asked, “Do y’all still want to adopt me?”
Cassie smiled, “Only if that’s okay with you.”
He nodded, then he smiled.
Cassie swallowed, but they were there. Tears.
She tried to hold them back but failed miserably.
I nodded, “Okay, little man. I’ll make the call tomorrow.”
Krispin had a worried look as he looked at her, then she smiled, “Happy tears. Promise.”

We walked out of the judge’s chambers with Krispin in the middle.
He was holding both of our hands.
I winked, then I grabbed my phone.
