I glance to the left and notice the shower inside the bathroom off Mavis’s room.

“Can I please take a shower?” I asks.

“Poor thing looks like you don’t have any fight left in you,” Tonya pouts.

Boy is she wrong. Trying to run when theirs a ton of bikers in the bar wouldn’t be smart on my end. I’ll have to gain Mavis’s trust to get out of my captors hold.

She yells for some guy to bring my bag over. Still holding the gun on me she allows me to get a few clothing and personal items out of the bag.

“If you lock the door, I have the key. If you try to escape, there are prospects waiting in the yard right outside to collect you.”

I grew up in the life. I know all too well how it works.

“Thank you.” I muster a smile.

After closing the door, I relieve myself, pull my hair into a ponytail, and tug on my bonnet. Once I’ve undressed, I climb into the shower. The scalding hot water rains down on my body.

Being in this motorcycle club brings up good and bad memories.

My mother Beverly was a middle school teacher and my dad Antoine Craven Sr. was a welder and Prez of Chi Hellraisers.

He eventually stepped down and passed the throne to my big brother, Antoine Jr.

I wasn’t allowed in the clubhouse until I was eighteen. Even then, I was off limits.

Brunner approached me when I started coming around with a couple of my friends. He always made me laugh. Antoine had a talk with him. Told him I was off limits. Said I was getting ready to go off to college and that I was a good girl and not to be touched. I think Brunner hated my brother. Felt like he was trying to say I was too good for him. My brother just didn’t want me to throw away my education.

I felt he knew something else about Brunner, too.

One night, I went to the clubhouse to chill with my brother. The clubhouse was deserted. Brunner stepped to the bar.

“Hey, Sophie. What are you drinking tonight?”

His big brown eyes shimmered.

“I’m not drinking tonight. I’m riding my motorcycle. I’ll take a sprite.” I grinned while taking a seat at the bar.

He sipped a beer as he placed a sprite in front of me.

“Is my brother here?” I asked.

“No,” he replied.

I didn’t tell him I was meeting my brother here. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to chill with Brunner for a moment. He was a big guy and fine. I wasn’t looking for anything serious. I was ready to attend Northwestern University.

Brunner sat facing me on the stool. He pushed a curl out of my face. “You’re so fucking sexy.”

I blushed. “Thank you.”

His big hand landed on my bare thigh near the hem of my jean shorts. “Chill with me tonight.”

“I can’t. I’m hanging with my friends later.”

“Your college friends?” he asked. There was a bite in his tone.

“Listen, we’re cool. I like talking to you but I’m not looking for more than that.”

“Why? You don’t think I’m good enough for you?” he sneers.
