“Okay,” Astrid didn’t know what to say to that, then sighed. “I know I shouldn’t be questioning you, but when do you think it’ll be done?”

“Three weeks, why? Was there any particular reason why you need to know?”

“I’d like to wire it for the security system. I was hoping to do it while you’re putting the wiring in the walls for the electrical.”

“Really? You can do that?”

“I can, I just need to pick up the wiring today, and I can go over there tomorrow and install it. I’d also like to install the cameras on the outside of the garage, the house, and the office.”

“I can help you with that tomorrow. The guys are finishing up putting up the studs today, and tomorrow they’ll be running the wiring and plumbing. I’m sure you can come over and do what you need to do.” He frowned, then looked at her quickly. “One question.”

“Okay.”

“Would the building inspector frown on the wires you’re putting in? Because once the electrical and plumbing are in, then we’ll just have to insulate, hang the drywall, mud it, then we’re basically done. Except for the painting.”

“I don’t think they will interfere with anything. You’ll be there when I run it, won’t you? You can tell me if it’s too close to the electrical, right?”

“Yes, I’ll even help you install it.”

“Thank you.” Astrid nodded, and looked out the window at her surroundings.

“We’re about ten miles from town, where to first?”

“The electronics store over on Stone Road. Between you and me, I think we should get the groceries last, then head home after that.”

“Sounds good,” John said as he drove the truck to where Astrid had told him she wanted to go. After they parked, Astrid put her hand on his forearm to stop him from getting out, and had to jerk her hand back at the shock shooting up her arm. She looked at him with wide eyes, and his expression said he’d felt the same thing she had. Before either of them acted on the feeling, Astrid cleared her throat, and broke eye contact to look down at the list in her hand. She breathed in deeply when he leaned in to look at the list, and had to mentally tell her girly parts to calm down.

Looking up at him quickly, she hadn’t realized how close he was, and their faces were only inches apart. Later she wouldn’t be able to pinpoint which one of them leaned in first, but once their lips touched, it was like fireworks going off. By the time they came up for air, Astrid realized her hands were buried in John’s hair, and his were in hers. Sighing in contentment, she looked at him with a small smile. “Wow.” She didn’t know what else to say to that kiss.

“Yeah,” John said and sat back, then looked at her with a grin when he adjusted, not only his body, but stretched his legs to pull his jeans down, giving him more room for his erection. They shared a smirk, then John quickly exited the truck, shook his legs to get more room in order to walk, then walked over and opened the door for Astrid. Before he’d allow her to climb down from the truck, he reached up, took her face in his hands, and kissed her again. This time when they broke apart, he placed his forehead on hers, and sighed, “We’re going to have to explore this further.”

“Yeah, but not right now.” She grinned at him. “We’ve got some shopping to do.”

John laughed as he helped her down, then held onto her hand as he locked the door, and they walked toward the electronics store. It turned out that they had to go to three different stores in order for Astrid to get everything on her list, but in the end, she was satisfied.

Walking down the aisles of the grocery store, John was pushing one cart, as Astrid pushed another. She stopped so suddenly, John had to swerve his cart into the center of the aisle, so he didn’t run into the back of her legs. It didn’t help that he’d been watching her ass, and not paying attention to what he’d been doing. “What’s wrong?”

“Do you know if the other ladies in the house drink wine?” She pointed to the section before her, and that’s when he saw all the bottles of wine.

“I have no idea, I know Ava drinks soda and not coffee, but I’ve seen her drink beer. I swear Joyce mainlines coffee. I’m surprised she doesn’t have an IV bag set up with it running twenty-four seven.” He frowned, and cocked his head to one side. “I don’t think I’ve seen her drink anything other than coffee or water.” He pulled his phone from his back pocket and made a call, making sure it was on speaker. “Ava?” he asked as it was answered. “It’s John, Astrid and I are at the grocery store. Quick question, do you and Joyce drink wine?” They waited for her response, and she ended up going to get Joyce, and the three women discussed what wines were available. It ended up that Astrid picked up several bottles of different kinds, then they moved on. Two hours later, they were loading up the truck, and after they settled in, John looked over at her, and sighed. “As much as I want to take you out to dinner right now, I think we’d better get the groceries home. We have over an hour before we get back.”

“I agree,” Astrid sighed, then looked over at him with her head laid back on the seat rest. “Who knew shopping was so exhausting.” She sighed again when John reached over and took her hand in his. They drove that way until they passed the ranch, then John let go of her hand, and handed her his phone.

“Could you send a text to Justin and tell them we’re almost home.” By the time he slowed down and entered the driveway, everyone was outside waiting for them. With everyone helping, it took them all making three trips to get all the groceries and her supplies in. While she took her things down to the office, she let the others take care of the groceries. Hearing something at the doorway, she looked up and saw John standing there with a bottle of wine in each hand.

“Rough day?” She smirked at him, then laughed when his cheeks turned bright pink.

“No, I brought these to see which one you wanted, white or red?”

“Oh, white, please.”

“Would you like it chilled?”

“Please,” she sighed, and looked at the bags of her purchases around her.

“I don’t mean to tell you what to do, but why don’t you leave it for tonight, come out and join us.” He smirked and she frowned at him.

“What?”
