“Yeah, and if this information is right, then Morgan better get those other women here ASAP. We’re going to need you gals out gathering Intel.”

“I know, and I heard that the other five will be arriving from next week until the end of September.”

“That’s good that they’re coming, but it’s even better that they’re spread apart like that. Do you know who all is coming and when?”

“I don’t feel comfortable giving out that information, not that I don’t trust you, but that’s for Morgan to tell you.”

“I understand, Ava, and thank you for telling me that, but if Miller’s right, and these serial numbers he ran on those tracers are from the Cartel, this prepper shit is bigger than we think.”

“I don’t know everything you know about the Cartel, but I hope to in the coming days, but I’m going to tell you the same thing I’ll tell Morgan later. I will do my all to do my part in taking these assholes down.”

“And I thank you for that. I’ll see you later at the BBQ, and how about if we keep this new information under our hats until Monday morning, then we can read Boswell in on it as well.”

“I agree.” Ava hung up, and then started a search on the Cartel Tom had mentioned. She was in the middle of reading some fascinating information when she gave a yelp as the alarm on her wrist went off. She laughed at herself, quickly shut down her computer, but made sure the information she was running would still be available to download, and closed up the office. Looking down at her outfit, she knew she’d never be able to wear the sandals on the bike, so she went back into the house, ran up to her room, and changed into jeans, and her riding boots. They were comfortable enough that she could walk around all day with them on.

With her helmet in one hand, and her leather jacket over her arm, she made her way back down the stairs, and grinned when she saw a giant plate of cookies on the counter under plastic wrap. Stealing one, she let herself out of the house, and made her way to the garage after locking up.

As soon as she fired up her bike, she got the urge to ride, but knew she had to get to the ranch. She made a mental note to ask Justin if he wanted to go riding later in the week. She’d seen the bikes in the garage, and would love to go out riding with a group of people. Sighing, she started her bike, and drove out of the garage. With it still running, she went back and closed the door. Hopping on her bike, she revved it up, grinned, then dropped it in gear to drive over to the ranch.

CHAPTER25

Justin lookedup when he heard a motorcycle, and stopped in his tracks to look down the driveway. He wasn’t the only one, his brothers and father were with him. As they watched, Justin grinned when the rider came around the bend, and he saw Ava on the back of her Harley.

“That’s a sweet ride,” Chad said. “Who’s driving?”

“Ava, and yes, that’s her bike.” Justin waited until she parked, removed her helmet, and looked at him with a grin. She called out to him.

“Hey, want to go for a ride sometime next week?”

“Absolutely, but I think Uncle Chip has something in the works for all of us to go out next Friday night.”

“I’m in.” Ava laughed as she dismounted and went to him. Two feet before him, she stopped, and didn’t know how to greet him. He took the decision out of her hands when he closed the gap between them, gathered her in his arms, and kissed her like he hadn’t seen her in years, instead of a mere few hours. When they sank into each other, neither of them saw the others gathered around leave them alone.

When they came up for air, she grinned up at him. “Hi, how was your day?”

“Good, I missed you. How was yours?”

“Good, your mother cooked me breakfast, and I was able to get some work done at the office, but I have to say thank you.”

“For?” Justin asked as they turned toward the backdoor of the house.

Ava pulled him to the side and whispered to him. “Sleeping with you was the most relaxing night I’ve had in years, ever since I was taken hostage. I don’t know if it’s you, or how safe and secure I felt in your arms. For that, I thank you.” She stretched up and kissed him on the lips.

Justin hugged her, and smiled at her confession. As they broke apart again, he guided her to the backdoor. Ava looked around, and frowned. “Are any guests here yet?”

“Yes, there’s about fifty high schoolers at the shed where the party is.”

“Where did they park?”

“Oh, for things like this, there’s another entrance further down the road. Parking here is only for family.”

“Oh.” Ava nodded and followed him into the back of the house. “What are we doing here?”

“Pig is done, we’re here to get the dishes to put the meat in.”

“Ah, is there anything I can help carry out?”

“As far as I know it’s already out there, but you can help us with the pig if you want.” Justin grinned, and when he saw his brothers had everything, he grabbed her hand, and held it all the way out to the building they called the shed. She looked at it and laughed. “What?”
