“Okay, from what I remember Dad telling me, take a room of say fifty people that has already donated their DNA. This website runs your DNA, then compares it to those fifty people. You might match one, or more, or none, but they run your samples against what they already have on file. Last I knew it was millions of people. If you get a match, the website will contact you with the information of the person you match to, as well as how you are matched.”
“Come again?”
“When Dad did it, he found a cousin from a branch of his family that no one talked about. They were able to reconnect the family tree.”
“Oh, wow.” Patch looked at her in wonder, then grinned. “You have a computer here?”
Laughing, Silver jumped to her feet, grabbed his hand, then dragged him into the living room. They settled on the sofa while she fired up her laptop. She explained what she was doing as she accessed her account.
“What’s all that?” Patch pointed to the screen at one point and cocked his head at her.
“This in my family tree. See,” she said as she pointed to the screen. “This is what my father filled out when he was doing his genealogy. This is me, then my father and mother, their parents and siblings, then back another generation to their parents, siblings, and children. Last time I talked to Dad, he was able to chase his family tree back to the early eighteen hundreds.” She again pointed to the screen and scrolled through the names of people listed.
Patch took the computer from her and studied it for a long, long time before he looked at her, and asked, “Is there a way to make my own account?”
“Sure,” Silver said, and told him what to do. An hour later, Patch looked at her with a mix of joy and fear in his facial expression. His eyes were wide and shining, but he also bit the corner of his lip.
“All I have to do is hit this button, and they’ll send me the DNA kit. I know I really want to do it, but what if I don’t have any family out there? What if I was given away, because I wasn’t wanted?”
“But, what if you were taken and there’s a family out there looking for you. Where did you get your name from? Did the Fosters give it to you? Or did Merrick.” Silver turned to the side and looked at him. “Think about this. If Merrick kidnapped you, because that’s what he did, he kidnapped you from school, what’s to say he, or an accomplice of his didn’t kidnap you at a younger age from your real family? From what you told me, I’m thinking that Merrick panicked when the Fosters wanted to adopt you and were asking for your birth certificate. If he did kidnap you the first time, there wouldn’t be one, and he had to do something to cover his ass.”
“Damn, I never thought of it that way.” Patch looked at her, then looked down at the computer. He drew in a deep breath, and before he let it out slowly, he pressed enter to send the request in for the DNA kit. Once it was done, he closed down the site, placed the laptop on the coffee table, then turned toward her. “Now we wait and see, but I’m still going to go to the lab at work, and getting my DNA done there, then maybe I can compare it to what this site says.”
“Paranoid much?” Silver grinned at him.
“Yeah, I guess I am. I’ve never given it much thought that I might have family out there that might actually miss me. I always assumed that I was given away, because I wasn’t wanted.”
Silver reached over and placed her hand on the side of his face. “I can’t give you a reason why my instincts are telling me this, but I truly believe you were kidnapped from a loving family, and that Merrick is behind it all. Why else would he take you from that school when the Fosters only wanted your original birth certificate?” She shrugged, then leaned in to kiss the side of his mouth, but Patch anticipated her move, and moved his head just enough to allow their lips to touch.
Chapter 16
Patch movedhis head and accepted Silver’s kiss full on the lips. At the contact, they both jerked like a live wire was between them, then he slammed his mouth over hers, making sure to wrap one hand around the back of Silver’s neck, holding her tight to him. They didn’t break apart from the kiss until they needed to come up for air.
Patch looked down at Silver, and sighed in contentment when he saw her glassy eyes, and a sappy smile on her face. With a smile of his own face, he went to kiss her again, but looked at Silver in surprised shock when she placed a hand in the center of his chest, pushed him away from her, but then reared up, only to throw a leg over his and straddle him. Grinning, Patch ran his hands up her thighs, and settled them on her hips. Before he could do anything else, Silver ran her hands through his hair, and bent down to kiss him.
“Wow,” Patch mumbled against her lips. “Whatever came over you, I like.” Then, he devoured her lips. Again, they kissed until they came up for air, and when Patch realized that Silver was rubbing her core against his aching erection, he broke off the kiss, tightened his hands on her hips, and moved her up his thighs, a few inches away from him.
“You keep that up and I’m not going to last.” What she asked next totally floored him.
“Do you have any condoms with you?”
“I do.” He looked at her with a hopeful expression. “Do you want to use some?”
“Absolutely. I don’t usually do this, but it’s been a long time for me, and I really, really like you, Douglas. I have since that first time I met you.”
Patch leaned up and gripped each side of Silver’s head, and took her lips in his. He broke away, only long enough to ask, “Where’s your bedroom?”
“Second door on the left.” Before she finished what she was saying, she gave a little shriek that turned into a laugh when Patch gripped her hips, brought her core tight to his erection, then stood. The entire walk from the living-room couch to her bedroom caused her to rub against him. After they entered the room Silver laughed as they fell across her bed and bounced a few times.
Patch rolled over to lean into Silver and kissed her within an inch of her life. He lifted his head and stared down at her, only to pause as he saw her expression. Her entire face looked angelic to him, and the more he stared at her, the more his chest hurt in the region of his heart. Later he would realize that was the moment he fell in love. Completely in love with her.
“You are so beautiful,” he whispered, and leaned in and kissed her. However, this time he slowed it down and poured all he was feeling into that kiss. When she wrapped her arms around his neck, he settled in and continued to kiss her. While they kissed each other, her fingers worked the buttons on his shirt, while his hand lifted her shirt, breaking apart in a frenzy of removing their clothing. Once they were naked, they came back together.
Silver ripped her mouth from his, gripped either side of his face and stared deep into his eyes. “As much as I want to slow down, I don’t think I can. You, Douglas, are one hell of a kisser.”
Patch grinned from ear to ear, and reached down to use his fingers to see how wet she was, then moved down the bed to settle between her legs. His first lap of her juices caused Silver to buck beneath him, and after wedging his hands beneath her ass, he lifted her and held her core to his mouth while he devoured her. He used his tongue to lick her length, then each side of her clit, avoiding any direct pressure on it. When Silver tried to grind herself on his tongue, he smiled against her and kept her in the air with one hand, while with the other hand inserted two fingers, at the same time as he sucked her clit into his mouth. Patch lapped at her juices when she stiffened against him as her orgasm overtook her.
“Douglas,” Silver sighed his name once she came down from her orgasm. Patch didn’t give her time to enjoy it as he reached over and grabbed his wallet, and pulled out the three condoms he had stored there. After ripping one open, and donning it, he settled between her legs, moved her hair away from her face, then studied her intently. He didn’t say anything, until Silver opened one eye, and cocked her brow at him.
