“With all due respect,” Ronnie sneered at him. “The owner of that car is my best friend and has been for the last ten year. Did you even run the plates to get a name?” Ronnie looked at his chest, and added, “Madden.”

“Well, no, I was waiting until we got it back to the impound yard.”

“I’m far from a police officer, and I won’t tell you how to do your job, but from a civilian point of view, I’d say Lorna was pushed from behind. Is there blood? What about her purse and cell phone? Were there any tracks of her leaving the scene of the accident.” When Deputy Madden only looked at her with his mouth hanging wide, she turned to Amos and bit out. “Call me with any details.” She grabbed Finn by the forearm, and said, “Let’s go.”

In the SUV, Finn only asked, “Where?”

“Andy’s place.”

“Where is that?”

She gave him the directions and when Finn’s phone rang, Ronnie saw the caller and showed Finn. “Do you mind?”

“Not at all.”

“Patch,” Ronnie said. “Finn is fine, but we have a situation. Where are you?”

“About thirty minutes from you. I had the weekend off and decided to come out and spend it with you and Finn.”

“Great, now please, go to the farm, pick up Major and, hold on a minute.” She looked at Finn and frowned. “Where are your military guns, and shit like that. With Major’s vest?”

“Put the phone on speaker,” Finn said. “Patch, it’s me. Grab Major. Then, in the closet of the blue bedroom is the gun safe. You know the combination, grab everything there. All the guns, and the two bags in the bottom. If Major gives you a hard time, show him the green bag and say ‘work’. We’ll text you the address where you are to meet us.”

“Okay, but can you at least give me a heads up on what we’re going to be going after?”

“Lorna’s missing, and we just saw her car, it looks like she was pushed into the corner of a building from behind.” Finn looked at Ronnie and shook his head. “She wasn’t there, I saw the air bag had been deployed, and blood.” He gripped Ronnie’s hand. “We’re going to gather intel and get her back.”

“Send coordinates, give me an hour.”

“Thanks, Patch.” Finn nodded to Ronnie and she hung up the phone. “So why are we going to Lorna’s apartment?”

“Because, if Andy has any feelings for her, then we can recruit him to help us locate her. Besides...” she grinned at him. “Their place is closer than the farm.”

“You know I don’t have to tell you that you won’t be going with us, right?”

“I know, but you’ll be leaving me this truck and your keys. I want a phone call as soon as you find her, and I’ll meet you at the hospital.”

“Deal.” Finn quickly gripped the back of her neck and brought her to him for a quick kiss. They pulled in and parked in Lorna’s space, then quickly made their way to the eighteenth floor. Instead of knocking on Lorna’s door, Ronnie used her fist and banged several times on Andy’s door. She had to move some boxes to the side to get to it, but it didn’t take long. The man who answered wasn’t anyone she had seen before and for several seconds she was stunned as to what to say, but behind the guy, she saw Andy come into the living room.

“You!” Ronnie yelled as she pushed the stranger aside and stalked to Andy. She did the same to him, as she’d done to Officer Madden. Grabbing his shirt front, giving him a shake, she growled out. “Where. Is. She?”

Andy looked around like a wild man, then spotted the man closing the door. “Finn? What’s going on?”

“Veronica, you can’t bully answers from him. Explain the situation, then you can bully him.”

“Thanks a lot, Larson,” Andy said, then looked down at the woman who still held his shirt front. “What are you talking about?” She shoved him and he stumbled back.

“Lorna’s missing,” Ronnie said as she looked Andy dead in the eye, and saw when his knees buckled and his complexion paled.

“Not that we don’t believe you,” the man who had opened the door said. “But how do you know?”

Finn pulled his phone and showed them pictures of the wrecked car he’d taken when Ronnie had been yelling at Madden.

“Shit,” Brian said. He looked at Finn and frowned. “I know you, I think.”

“Face looks familiar.” Finn frowned back. “Finn Larson.”

“Sergeant Major with the Marines?”
