“You won’t touch my daughter.” I growled.

“Oh, Nova. I don’t think you understand. I don’t really need you. I want you. I plan on inflicting all my deepest darkest desires on you, but I don’t need you. You’re just leverage.”

“Leverage for what?” I asked, confused and wary.

“My father made a deal. Timberly marries his partner’s son when she’s old enough. Without her, they’ll burn us alive and take everything. All I need to do is deliver her.” Kyle said calmly like what he said was alright.

“She’s a child. Your child. How could you sell your daughter?” I gasped, clutching my stomach absentmindedly.

“Business is business.” He shrugged, watching me intently. “I’m not selling her. I’m giving her an opportunity of a lifetime. The family that wants her is worth billions and they have power and prestige. What more could she ask for. And besides, she won’t be married until she comes of age.”

“But they’ll still own her.” I screamed. “No one is taking my daughter. I’ll kill you myself before I let you take her from me. I’ll fucking kill you.” I growled and lunged at him weakly.

“Oh? That’s new. Is it his?” He asked, glancing at the hand on my belly with a wicked smile. “More leverage.” He said with a gleam in his eye. “You’re going to beg him to trade Timberly for you. Or you’ll watch me carve that thing out of you.” I seethed, grabbing me by my hair, and forcing me to look at him as he spoke.

“Crew will kill you. He’ll kill everyone you love.” I sobbed, rage building as I looked eyes with him.

“He’d better hurry. The clock’s ticking. Let's see how you feel after a few days with no food.” He smiled, walking to the door and slamming it behind him.

I lost count of the hours I had been locked in this room. Kyle had left without a word after threatening me to help him get Timberly. Leaving me alone with my thoughts and hunger until he decided I had learned my lesson. When I woke up, I found a small bottle of water next to me but no food. My arms were cramped, and my back was aching from being cuffed so long. I smelled of sweat and the piss that had saturated my pants since Kyle nor his men hadn’t let me out to pee. At this point I wasn’t even embarrassed. All I could do was pray for a shower soon. I stretched trying to ease the discomfort in my body but couldn’t find a comfortable position.

My chest was tight, and I could hear my heart thumping in my ears as I tried to calm myself. I wanted to scream for Kyle to let me out. I wanted to give in and tell him that he’d won. But I’d never been a quitter and I’d be damned if I started now. I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths and thought about Timberly and Crew whispering their names like prayers in my head. Recalling every detail of their faces and letting the love I have for them resonate within me. It was all I had to keep from losing my mind until Crew came for me.

“Well, well. Look at you. Not so high and mighty now, huh?” She laughed.

“Fuck you, Kennedy.” I said, opening my eyes and glowering at her in the light.

“Oh, you’re still feisty. That’s cute. Thought you’d be crying for Crew to come save you.” She said, smirking as she circled me.

“He will come. And he’ll bury every last one of you.” I said.

“God, you really believe that. He can’t even find you. He doesn’t even know if you’re alive or dead. Bet he’s already moving on, though he did have shit taste picking you over me,” Kennedy laughed coldly.

“He doesn’t even remember you.” I snort. This bitch is crazy.

“Shut your mouth.” She hissed, voice dropping to a deadly tone.

“You were nothing, but a sloppy one-night stand he couldn’t pick out of a lineup.” I grinned, laughing through my pain.

“I said shut up!” Kennedy screamed, rage building.

“You’re pathetic,” I laughed again. She really thought she had a chance with my husband. From what he said they hadn’t even fucked. She just sucked his dick. I can only imagine how she would have acted if she had got fucked. Crew and I may not have married for love, but I’d be damned if I let her think she had a chance with my man.

“Bitch!” She yelled, slapping me hard across the face. My head snapped to the side as blood seeped from my split lip. I turned back slowly, eyes burning, and deliberately before spitting the blood right in Kennedy’s face. “That all you got?” I laughed, blood coating my teeth.

“I’m gonna kill you bitch!” She screamed.

Kennedy lunged for me, clawing at my hair and face. I tried to fight back even with my hands tied, snarling. One of Kyle’s men, big and mean, rushed in and yanked Kennedy off me.

“Enough! Ms. Harris. You can’t hurt her.” He huffed.

“Let me fucking go!” She yelled, thrashing, and placing a well-placed kick to my back as she tried to get to me again.

“Kyle said she needs to stay alive. You want him pissed?”

“Fine. Keep her breathing. But don’t think for a second she’s getting out of this alive when this is all said and done.” She hissed, breathing hard and glaring at me.

She wiped my blood off her face, smearing it across her cheek like war paint. She leaned in as close as she could before hissing.
