"True but not every man entertains the opportunity. Just because your man ain't shit, at least not with you, doesn't mean Omiri will be the same. My man doesn't cheat," Zina said.

"Hell, mine either, because he knows I will fuck him up," Shiya said.

"This isn't a one size fits all, boo," Zina added, making Layla and Sabrina both reel in their attitudes. I bit my lip to hold my smile.

"Now how about we focus on lighter topics. Y'all done being shady."

"Nobody being shady, I'm being real."

"Mhm," Shiya said, then turned to me. "How are you feeling about your first season?"

"I'm not really stressing it; so I guess I'm good."

"Wait until those games hit. The worst part is making the travel work," Layla said, deciding to play nice. I could tell she was heavily influenced by Sabrina but also wanted to be accepted by Zina and Shiya.

"I probably won't do all the away games." I had already tried to process balancing my career, Avi, and traveling. That was going to be a lot.

"I go to all of them but it gets expensive," Sabrina said. "But I guess you don't have to worry about that, do you?"

"Damn girl, why you hating so much? You mad because Samuel doesn’t want you traveling with him and got you maxing out your cards." Zina rolled her eyes and Sabrina glared at her.

"Girl, fuck you."

Shiya laughed. "I go to all of them. I'm going to be wherever Dedric is."

"Like I said, opportunities." Sabrina smiled smugly.

"I'm not worried about that. LikeIsaid, he knows better."

Maybe I was crazy but I honestly didn't feel like Omiri would be with other women. Even if that was his choice, I refused to babysit him. Because if he didn't respect me enough to be faithful, I refused to follow him around to make him.

"If I travel, it won't be to make sure he's not with other women. It will be to support him," I said and shrugged.

"Oh honey, that's sweet, but you do realize who he is. This is the NFL, not high school. Support and trust won't make that man faithful. You better be checking his social media and his phone. These hoes are ruthless and don't care about you."

"Girl, don't worry about these bitter bitches. You lose them how you gain them. Y'all was fucking and sucking on somebody else's men. That's why you stay stressed about them cheating." Shiya cut her eyes at both of them.

"That part," Zina said. "Now can we eat?"

I guess that was enough to shut them both down because they stopped coming for me and the rest of the brunch was pretty chill. Regardless, I knew I wouldn't be dealing with Layla or Sabrina because I had no time to be disrupting my energy with hating ass hoes. The most either of them could get from me was hi and bye but I was mature enough to exist in the same space as long as they understood not to try me.

After the morning I had, being at home comfy on the sofa while Avi moved around babbling and exploring the living room felt like peace. The sound of her little voice was soothing as I typed out posts for a few of my clients. I was starting to realize more and more that the simple things in life meant the most. I chilled for most of the afternoon, and by the time Omiri came in from training, I was still stretched out on the sofa, only having moved to occasionally deal with Avi.

"What's up, baby mama." I threw my head back against the sofa, looking behind me when Omiri entered the living room. He looked exhausted but that had been the norm since they started their full practices and shifted into mini-camp.

"You look like you need a nap." I closed my laptop and set it on the floor when he leaned over me, delivered a kiss, then rounded the sofa, lifted my legs, and settled beside me. Once he was situated, he pulled me into his lap and I shifted so my back was against his chest. He wrapped his arms around me and buried his face in my neck.

"This is what I need. Practice is kicking my ass. These damn rookies are making shit harder than it needs to be."

"If you stop punching them, it might not be so bad."

He told me about his situation with McClain and I felt bad for him but knew better than to get in the middle of it.

"I only hit one and he better have learned his lesson and stopped grinning in your damn face or I'm going to punch his ass again."

"Leave that child…"

"Bruh, I told you about defending another man to me." I grinned and pushed my head back to smile at him.
