“Did you get to study?”

“Yeah.”

“Good.” She smiled at me sleepily. “The glasses are on.”

I smirked. “You like them, don’t you?”

She reached out and pressed a finger on the bridge of my frames. “You could say that.”

Shifting onto my side, I propped my head on one hand and put the other on her stomach. It compressed beneath my touch, and I skimmed my palm up her ribcage, enjoying how goosebumps followed my path.

Her eyes narrowed. “You have class.”

“I can skip.” My thumb grazed the bottom of her breasts before she halted me.

“I have boot camp.”

Damn it. I sighed, saying, “If only we weren’t two responsible adults with goals in life.”

“Alas,” she drawled. Then she silenced me by drawing her fingers through my hair.

I groaned. “Not helping, babe.”

Her smile seemed bittersweet. “Thank you for this week.”

I shook my head vehemently. “No. This isn’t goodbye. I’m bringing you to the station later.”

“It would be easier if we said goodbye now.”

“I don’t care about easy. Do you?” At her silence, I moved my hand to her neck and stroked her jaw. “Do you want this to be goodbye?”

Her throat bobbed as she swallowed. “No.”

I let out a relieved breath. “Then I’ll see you later.” I leaned in for a kiss.

Whatever happened, we weren’t saying our farewells in a bus terminal. Not if I could help it.
