“I know.I’m not saying you did.I think we should both agree that the other night was a mistake and we should just forget about it.”

“Why?”

“Because,” Lidia said.“You and I both know the moment you’re healed, you’re going to find another woman, and you’ll be fine, and I’m not going to do something like that.I am not going to attempt to change who you are, and what you do.”

“What ifIchange?”Rusty asked.

Lidia looked at him.“Be real, Rusty, you don’t believe in settling down, starting a family, or falling in love, and I don’t want to be just a little fun.”

Neither of them spoke, and then Lidia took a step back and closed his door the way it was, and left.

****

Rusty got to his feetand opened the door, seeing Lidia disappear out of sight.

Never in all his life had he felt this way.He was pissed off, in pain, and now he felt agitated.Lidia was right and she was wrong.

Yes, he was a guy that got the STI as well as an STD, and the club never let him live it down. The club didn’t know how he actually got it in the first place, but he wasn’t going to say anything. The club could keep thinking what they wanted, and he played the role he had been dealt.

Lidia was different. She didn’t know this, but he had noticed her around town.Long before Grant started to date Aria, he had spotted her.

Where Aria had long, blonde hair, Lidia had dark, almost raven hair.Rusty had been unable to look away.He watched her walk around town, hang out with Aria. When the last lockdown happened, Lidia hadn’t been at the clubhouse, but that didn’t seem to stop her from making friends with fucking Pat.Lidia was a force to be reckoned with.

It was a miracle Lidia hadn’t fallen in love with Pat.He was the more dependable of the two of them.Pat didn’t have the sex stories, nor did he have the reputation. In fact, Pat had once told him he would one day live to regret the choices he had made in bagging as much pussy as he could.

One touch of Lidia, one taste, and Rusty knew there was no going back. The only problem was, she didn’t want to fucking know him.

How did he get a girl to like him, when she was too hung up on who he used to be?

Chapter Fifteen

Pat pulled up outsideof M-Mechanics.Ava was right, it hadn’t taken him long to find the place.Grant, Rip, and Bud had come with him to check the place out.

For some reason, as soon as Ava asked about the garage and mentioned this place, something hadn’t sat right with him.He couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but after what his dad had told them in church, he felt it was important to check it out.

“Wow, this place looks like a fucking dump,” Grant said.“Are you wanting to grab an engine or some shit that doesn’t work?”
