Turning my back on the men, I head straight to my bedroom, each step fuming more and more. I pick up my phone and click Kade’s name, ready to give him a piece of my mind.

"Hey, Sam," he says after picking up on the first ring, and every thought I had in my mind leaves it. Because honestly, I wasn't expecting for him to pick up. I was ready to leave an angry message on his voicemail, which would've been easier.

"Sam? Is everything okay?" he asks, pulling me out of my weird haze.

"No, everything is not okay. There are movers here saying that they're supposed to pack up my stuff?"

Kade lets out a slow breath like his patience is waning instead of mine. Why is everyone acting likeI'mthe problem? "You said you would be willing to live with me," he calmly states.

"Yeah, but I thought I would just bring a few things over, not my whole apartment."

"Sam, it has to look convincing," he pleads.

The way he says it has him pulling at my heartstrings. This is not good. Kade is the only who can penetrate the walls around my heart without even trying, no matter how hard I fight it. I don't want to think too much about why that is though. No, I need to keep my head on straight. He is the same guy who hurt me before. "But I can't not have my apartment, I need somewhere to live after all of this."

"Fine. I'll help keep your apartment."

"That's not what I meant."

"I know. Sam, please just let them do their job. You can keep the apartment, but we have to look as if we are living together. We can't do that if it looks like you have a separate place."

Pinching the bridge of my nose, I take a deep breath. I can't believe I'm doing this. Being free of my school loans better be worth it.

"Fine."

"Thank you. I'm on my way to help," he says before hanging up.

I head back out to the living room to tell them they can start to pack, which apparently isn't necessary because these fools decided to start without my permission. They're just lucky I agreed to this, or I would've made them put everything back.

Chapter twelve

Kade

I arrive ten minutes after she hangs up, holding my breath the whole time I'm walking up to her floor. Sam could decide at any moment that she doesn't want to do this anymore, and I wouldn't blame her either. I'm finally able to let it out when I get to her apartment and she's allowing the movers to do their job. With Samantha, you never know what she's thinking or what she's going to do. I mean, that's one of the things I love about her. Wait, I don't mean love, just like, yeah that's right.

Scanning the apartment, I see her standing in the living room directing the movers. Every time I see her, she looks more and more beautiful. When she looks up at me, her brown eyes light up for a moment, then they dull just a small amount as if she's trying to dampen down her feelings. I'm sure it's not something she even sees, but I do.

"Hey," I breathe out as I approach her. It takes everything in me not to grab her right at that moment. "How is it going?"

"Fine," she huffs out.

"You sound like your upset about it." I chuckle at her response.

"This would be easier if you were awful and they were awful," she says gesturing to the men in the apartment who were packing.

"Well, I'm here to help, what do you need?" I say, clapping my hands together.

"I guess you can pack up the kitchen and I'll do the bedroom," she tells me.

I look around the apartment and the movers seem to have everything under control here. I don't think they need my help in the living/kitchen area. Sam's apartment isn't very big. Honestly, they would probably have this whole thing packed up in about two hours, even if we were just to leave, but I know she won't let that happen.

"How about I help you pack up what you need from your room and then we can go get dinner," I propose instead.

Sam seems to think it over, looking around the room, then she turns her eyes on me, standing in silence for what most would say is uncomfortably too long before she replies, "Fine. I guess that would be okay."

"You just wanted to see me sweat, huh?" I ask as I follow her back to the bedroom.

She looks over her shoulder giving me a smirk, but her cheeks fill with color when she replies, "You know it."
