“Liar! You could do it in two seconds on your phone. If you wanted to lock your house down like Fort Knox you could, but you haven’t.”
“Anyway, Inaya. Is that all you called me for?”
She snickered. “Yes and no. I saw the one brother. The quiet, cute one.”
“Emmet?” I turned onto my street.
“Yeah. I think he was staking someone out. When I noticed him and tried to talk to him he ignored me as if I wasn’t there. Took a couple photos with some high tech camera and walked off.”
“And what did you do?” I knew my friend. She didn’t take being ignored lightly. Her personality was too loud and bold for that.
“I might have followed him and accidentally backed into his car.”
“Inaya!” I turned my blinker on, preparing to turn into my driveway.
“What? He refused to acknowledge me so I had to make myself known, but it was a bust.” She smacked her lips. “When I tried to exchange information for insurance purposes he told me not to worry about it and drove off.”
“So you fucked your car up for nothing.”
“Well yeah, but it’s minor. You know I wanted a new car anyway.” I shook my head and threw my car in park.
“That’s crazy.”
“Maybe. He’s a PI, right?”
“Inaya.” My voice held a warning.
“I think I need help with a situation and he’s the guy for me.”
“Inaya.”
“He gives me dark and dangerous. My favorite kind of man. Quiet, mysterious, and fine as fuck.”
“He seems unstable.”
“Your guy openly stalks you, don’t be judgy.”
Stifling a laugh I turned my car off, unbuckled my seat belt, and unlocked my door. Climbing out of the car, I put my phone to my ear so I could finish my conversation and went to my backseat to grab my bag.
“I haven’t had much conversation with Emmet, he didn’t say much when I was around.”
“Which is good! A man that likes to be seen instead of heard.”
I didn’t try to reason with her. Once Inaya had her mind made up, that was it. We spoke for a little longer once I was secured in the house.
“Okay, I’m going to shower. Good luck on your conquest.”
“Have you seen me? I don’t need luck but thank you, babe!”
Snickering, I hung the phone up and tossed it on my bed. I glanced at the bag I set near my door and rolled my eyes. I was annoyed and now even more sexually frustrated.
Pulling off my hoodie, I tossed it to the side and wiggled out my sweatpants. I didn’t bother with putting on anything other than my bra and panties when I left for the hotel. Grabbing the elastic band in my hair, I pulled it out, allowing my curls to be free. I raked my hands through it and pushed it out my face.
I went to my nightstand to grab my favorite toy. Just as I was about to go to my bathroom, my phone vibrated and lit up on my bed. Redirecting myself, I turned toward my bed.
My breath hitched and heat submerged in the pit of my belly when I saw Ezra’s name pop up on my screen.
Bringing the corner of my bottom lip into my mouth, I picked the phone up, unlocked it, and read over the message.
