“Hey, Mr. Ellis.”

Grasping my hand, he gently pulled me to my feet before he sat in the chair himself and brought me down on his lap. As always, he started being nosy, going through the different documents on my desk. He stopped on the potential cover art for one of our new artists.

“This is dope as hell.”

I grinned. “I agree.”

He kissed my neck then leaned back.

“Wassup, though? Sounded like something was on your mind when you asked me to come through.”

I glanced at him and saw nothing but concern and love as he stared back. Taking a deep breath, I grabbed the gift box and handed it to him.

“Open it,” I said softly.

He lifted a brow but immediately began unwrapping the box silently. He looked inside and frowned before pulling out its contents.

In his hands was a white onesie that said:Your newest little lyric.

His eyes snapped up to mine, shimmering and searching.

“Doll,” he said lowly, his voice cracking.

I nodded, his glistening eyes prompting my own tears.

“We’re about to be somebody’s parents, Brick.”

For a minute, we just sat there, staring at each other, with tears in our eyes.

“Aye, baby. You for real? Don’t play wit’ me.”

I chuckled and rolled my eyes. “I wouldn’t have gotten a onesie made if I weren’t serious.”

He closed his eyes, and his first tear finally fell. Resting his forehead against mine, he said, “Thank you for this, Doll.”

He pulled back and placed a hand on my flat stomach. Staring at it, he spoke. “You gave me everything I didn’t even know I needed. I’ma spend the rest of my life giving you and this baby the world. Thank you, man,” he said again.

I kissed his lips and wrapped my arms around his neck, hugging him tightly.

We had spent the last two years building a legacy, and now we were adding to it by building our family. Every chapter we had written thus far was the preface to the forever we were working toward. With this baby, that forever seemed brighter than ever, and I was here for everything that came with it. The second verse of our love song had been just as amazing as Brick promised. I couldn’t wait to see what came next.

The End!
