Lei Lu lifted her head from her computer. “I can’t believe it would be this idiot. He’s only been the CIA station chief here for a year and has fucked up twice already.”
“What kind of intel comes out of Italy?” Mia questioned.
“Fuck if I know,” Nita said under her breath. “The only business we do in Italy is stopping to refuel on our way home.”
“Do you think we can have time to see anything of Florence while we’re there?” Piper Knight looked guilty. “I’ve never seen the statue of David.”
“You’ve seen muscular naked men before.” Ashlin Cartwright grinned. “As recently as the night before we left on this mission. That SEAL you picked up was fucking hot.”
“He wasn’t a SEAL.” She grinned back. “He was Delta. And yes, his body was magnificent. And so was his tongue.”
“Buckle up,” Kayla Scarlatto called from the cockpit.
Grace added, “This is kind of a short runway so hang on. Kayla’s got the stick.”
They taxied over to the hangar for refueling and to pick up their passengers.
“Is that Top Cooper carrying bags?” Tori asked then looked over her shoulder.
Nita crawled over her seat and peered out the window. “Sure is. What the hell was he doing here?”
“Holy fuck. That’s Alex, and he’s carrying a baby.” Tori glanced at Lei Lu. “Did that CIA guy have a kid?”
“There’s no record of a child.”
Nita squealed and dashed for the steps. “Katlin’s here.”
Tori watched as Katlin emerged from the back of the hangar, carrying a diaper bag on one shoulder and her weapons bag on the other.
Top Cooper stuck his head into the cabin. “Hello, Ladies. Are there assigned seats?”
“No, sir. Sit anywhere. I’m Piper Knight, with Team Two.” They shook hands then she suggested a seat. “I’m sure you’ll prefer riding forward.”
“Forward. Backward. Sideways. Makes no difference to me.”
When Alex entered the cabin, Grace rushed from the cockpit. “Is this what I think it is?”
Alex chuckled. “If you think it’s a baby, then you’re right.” He pulled down the blanket so Grace could see. “This is my son, Riccardo.”
Tori squealed and jumped out of her seat. “I want to see.”
“Katlin left us because she was pregnant?” Lei Lu stood and cautiously approached the huddle.
Alex nodded. “And because I was an ass.”
“I take it you’re back together? Everything worked out?” Grace held Alex’s gaze.
“Yes. We’re engaged, again.” Alex gave the group a warm smile. “And we’ve set the date.”
Grace hugged Alex. “That’s wonderful. When are you getting married?”
Katlin stepped into the cabin and announced, “As soon as we land. Uncle Francis is meeting us at the National Cathedral because that’s where he’s working this week. Grace, I expect you to be my matron of honor. Nita, Lei Lu, and Tori, will you all stand up with me?”
“Of course.” “Absolutely.” “Thank you for asking,” the women answered.
“And will you please call your significant others and have them meet us at the cathedral?” Alex dropped his gaze over the women. “Please be sure to tell them dress is casual.” Then he added, “As soon as we get Ric settled, I’ll text them also.”
“Whose turn is it to fly, because I want to play with that baby,” Grace announced.
