“Oh, Cecily? She’s friendly withallof us,” Titan smirked. Ace nodded in agreement. Hearing that shit made the testosterone in my blood rise to the surface but I knew it was all a part of the plan.
Cecily had to seem like she was an all-around party girl. I couldn’t act too attached to her. Passing her around between my friends was one sure-fire way to get Dad to back the fuck off. I only trusted her with Titan and Ace though because I knew they wouldn’t harm her and they wouldn’t try to fuck her when my back was turned. Above all that shit though, she felt comfortable with them and that set my mind at ease.
That had been the plan from the first moment my father told me he wanted to fuck her.
“Yo, Bear. You mind if I take Cecily out for a little while? I need to have a little fun if you get where I’m coming from,” Titan said.
“Yeah. Go ahead. I have some shit I need to take care of anyway.” I pretended to be busy on my phone but I was really sending Titan a text telling him to take Cecily to Sugar Bayou with him for the day. I wanted her as far away from Dad as possible.
CECILY
“Alright y’all, we’ll be back later,” Titan had his arm around my waist as Bear instructed him weeks ago when everything was put into motion. He’d appointed Titan as my personal guard and Ace was the backup. Titan was supposed to be my stand-in boyfriend.
Bear wanted me to seem passed around so his father wouldn’t catch on to the fact that we were insanely in love. It was all smoke and mirrors to keep me busy with other men so I wouldn’t have to be lured in by Griffon. I decided he didn’t deserve the title of Mr. He didn’t deserve any modicum of respect from me.
He was vile.
He’d crept inside of Bear’s brain and made him think he was helplessly under his spell. I was determined to break the spell and show Bear he didn’t have to be his father.
I looked to Griffon before we were about to leave instead of Bear. I knew if I looked at Bear I’d give too much away. I was aching to look into those fire glass eyes I loved so much though.
“Y’all have fun,” Bear chuckled. “Hey, bring her back, Shadow. She has a party to go to tomorrow night.”
“Oh, a party? Am I invited?” He quizzed his unwavering coal gaze shot straight to Griffon.
“Why not? I like him, Bear. Is he one of your high-ranking soldiers?” He asked.
“He’s on track to be,” Bear answered, looking down at his phone. God, that man could play aloof with the best of them. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think he didn’t give a fuck about anything.
“Good. Stop by the party tomorrow, Shadow and please bring this pretty little baby doll back with you. Y’all can’t have all the fun. I’m the one who just came home.” Hearing Griffon call me baby doll made my goddamn skin crawl. I never wanted to snatch someone’s tongue out more.
“Oh, I’ll bring her back.” Titan tipped his head toward the door and I giggled a little for emphasis then wiggled my fingers at everyone. Bear glanced up for a moment and I saw love in his eyes right before he cast his gaze back down to his phone screen. He knew if he looked at me his father would be able to tell in an instant how deep his love ran.
Once I was safely in the car with Titan, I let out a pent up breath. “This shit is so stressful.” I rubbed the space between my brows and clicked my seatbelt into place.
“I have an edible back there if you want to relax a little bit.”
“Really?” I lifted my eyebrow curiously.
“It’s yours if you want it, just say the word.”
“Can I keep it for later?” I asked him.
“Sure.” He gave me an easy shrug then said, “Sorry for having to put my arms around you like that. I know that shit was uncomfortable.”
“It was but I know it’s a part of the game. Thank you for coming when Bear called. I know it means a lot to him. It means a lot to me too, Titan.”
“It’s nothing. Bear is a stand-up guy. It’s the least I can do.” I sensed something deep and dark lurking beneath Titan’s surface but whatever it was told me not to dig. He was holding onto something weighty and I didn’t want to even know what it was. For him to be someone Bear trusted as much as he did meant he wasn’t as innocent as he seemed on the surface.
“By the time we get back to Sugar Bayou, Ivy and Sarah should be home.”
“Aww, your daughter is adorable. You seem so in love with your wife, I know all this has to be weird for you.”
“A little. I still know how to put on a good show though. Plus, I’m not letting that get in the way of the fact that Bear’s dad is trying to do some fucked up shit to spite him.”
“Yeah.” A chill raced up and down my arms and I rubbed them with my palms.
“You cold?” Titan asked, glancing over at me.
