KYLA
When my phone finally rang with a Facetime call from Naima, I was beyond excited. Butterflies filled my stomach as I pressed accept. We both let out squeals when we saw each other. “I have news,” I said rocking back and forth.
“Me too!” She grinned. “You first though.”
I sucked in a deep breath and said, “Me and Max are back together!” My cheeks were throbbing from the smile plastered on my face.
“Are you serious? I’m so fucking happy. Girl, I thought I was going to have to kill you or him orsomeonebecause you were sad as fuck.”
“I was. It was bad,” I flashed her my fingertips to show the damage and she glared at me.
“Kyle…girl…”
“I know. I know. Anyway, I apologized to him and we finally admitted that we were in love. I admitted that I have trust issues and…”
“Wait,” she cut me off and held her hands up. “We all knew you had trust issues.Youwere the one in the dark.”
“Well, you know what the hell I mean, Naima. What’s your news,” I asked.
“Oh, yeah.” She flashed another big grin and motioned for Cadence to come over.
“Hey girl!” I chirped.
“Aww, you’re happy again. You must have gotten some vitamin D.”
“All night long. That’s another story though. What’s up, you two?” I rested my chin on my fist and waited to hear the news. They exchanged glances with each other then looked at me. “What? Did you get her pregnant, Naima?”
“Fuck you. No,” she grumbled.
“I’m staying here in LA with Naima. I got a job as an entertainment lawyer working for this really popular blog. You may have heard of it, Tea Time.” Cadence looked so happy I couldn’t stop smiling. It was contagious.
“Oh my god! See, I told you! I knew you were going to end up staying. You can’t stay away from the woman you love.” I clapped my hands together and did a happy dance.
“I’m coming back for about a month or two to turn in my two weeks notice and pack up,” Cadence told me with a happy smile.
“And I’m coming with her,” Naima blurted. I could tell her knee was bouncing up and down because the screen was jiggling around. I didn’t care though, it meant I got to see both my girls and spend time with them. I was over the moon.
“Yo, Kyle. You in the bedroom?” Max’s deep voice made me perk all the way up and I was already on high.
“Ooh, did you see the way her face lit up when she heard her man?” Naima teased. I flipped her off just as Max walked into the bedroom. God, that man was fine. He leaned over and looked at the computer then waved at Cadence and Naima.
“What’s up, ladies? How’s L.A.?”
“It’s fine,” Cadence grinned.
“Not as fine as you but it’s great,” Naima laughed.
“Back up, bitch,” I warned with a point. “You have all your fucking happiness right there beside you. I have all my penis right here beside me.”
“Um…I’m going to assume you left off the first part of that word,” Max chuckled.
“You can’t say happiness with saying penis so there’s no wrong way to look at this,” I shrugged. Max shot me an incredulous look then said,
“Naima, why’d you leave me here with her? You know she’s fucking crazy, right?”
“Hey, you chose that life, Max. Deal with it.”
“You’re right. Hey, can she call you ladies back? I have somewhere I want to take her and Barks.” I jerked my gaze over to him and frowned a little.
