CHAPTER ELEVEN

MARGOT

Honolulu was gorgeous.

I don’t know why it took me so long to make the trip but I was glad I did. I needed it. For weeks I hadn’t been feeling like my usual sassy self. I hated it.

This trip was going to change everything. I was on the prowl. Not only for myself but for anything that would shake up the mundane day-to-day I’d been experiencing.

I was ready to get the fuck out and stretch my legs.

I felt stifled in every damn aspect. I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled. Here in Hawaii, I could be whoever I wanted to be. I could rewrite my sucky life and for a week, I could be happy.

I walked over to my suitcases and hauled them on to the bed. I rested my hands on my hips and sucked in a deep breath. I needed to wear something that would make every man drag his tongue behind him.

After careful deliberation, I chose a hot pink, curve-hugging dress with spaghetti straps. I slid on a pair of strappy black sandals and then flat ironed my hair. After a few coats of mascara and lip gloss, I was ready to hit the bar.

I was used to the bars back at home. Loud music and conversation, dark lights, and men coming at me from every direction. In Honolulu, the bar was light and airy and the conversation didn’t feel dense. The space was so wide open that I didn’t feel closed in at all and most of the seats were outside. I walked outside to the bar and took a seat right in the middle. I wanted to be able to see everything and everyone.

I was glad I did that because otherwise, I would have missed the fine piece of chocolate walking outside. He was tall and painfully sexy with a smile that lit up the whole place…and we were outside. I watched him stroll over to the bar and my panties were wet immediately.I had no idea what kind of voodoo that man possessed but I wanted it all over me.[DJ5]

I stared at the way he moved with so much confidence and the way he scanned the crowd with bright copper eyes. I’d never seen such beautiful eyes on a man before. If I had an ounce of artistic ability, I’d paint him. He looked like a god. The only problem I had was that he was on the other end of the damn bar.

I guess I stared at the chocolate Adonis a little too long and hard because his head turned in my direction. His eyes narrowed like he was trying to place my face, then he moved closer. I wasn’t mad.

“Hello.” I smiled up at him because you couldn’tnotsmile at a man who looked like that. He was gorgeous.

“Hey, um…anyone sitting here?” He gestured to the empty seat beside me.

“You’re sitting there,” I pointed to the seat and he laughed. “What’s your name?”

“This is…different,” he chuckled staring at me. “My name is Lennox English.” His voice rolled over me like deep waves of silk.

“Lennox? I’m Margot DuBois. Nice to meet you.” I held out my hand and he kissed the back of it. My skin warmed at his touch.

“Margot, huh? Okay, Margot DuBois. Can I get you a drink?” He lifted his eyebrow at me and I thought I would fucking faint.

“Sure. Thought you’d never ask.”

“You’re not shy at all, are you?” Lennox laughed and I bathed in the sound.

“Not at all. Can I ask you something, Lennox?” I made no attempt to hide the way I peeled his clothes off with my eyes.

“Yeah, what’s up?”

“Why are you here at a bar in Honolulu alone?” I was honestly curious. He had to be there with someone as fine as he was. Hawaii was a romantic place. Everyone couldn’t be a total and utter fuck up with love like me.

“I…um…” His gaze darted around the area as if someone would pop out and see him. “I’m here with my wife,” he confessed, hanging his head low.

“Wife? Right…” I sighed heavily. “All the good ones are taken, right?”

“Something like that,” he shrugged. “Listen, let me buy you a drink.” He called the bartender over and she grinned at him like she was star struck. A flare of jealousy burned up my insides.

It was bad enough that Lennox was married, now every woman in the damn bar was about to notice how insanely hot he was too. I rubbed the space between my brows and listened while he ordered me a drink. Shit, I was going to need it.

“Hi, can I get a glass of chardonnay for the lady? I’m still deciding. Thanks.”

I blinked at his order and held my hand up, my bangles clinking with the motion.
