“Being there isn’t a burden, Ethan. I’d be there for him for the rest of his life. Sex isn’t what I want. His heart is. I want his heart to be mine.”
Ethan didn’t feel as bad now about coming here to do this.
Will would do the job.
There was no doubt there.
“Save him, Will. Love him through this, and don’t be upset we blocked you from seeing him. Corbin doesn’t want to see anyone—even his parents. It’s not about not loving you. It’s about falling apart the second he sees you.”
Oh, he would, and he wasn’t the least bit angry. In fact, he was grateful.
Ethan didn’t have to come here and risk his friendship with Corbin for him.
Now, Will had one question for the man.
“And the person who hurt him?” he asked. “Where do I find him? Because he hurt the man that I’m going to marry. He hurt the better part of me.”
Yeah, Ethan was right.
This man did love Corbin, and he was gearing up for one hell of a battle.
As for the rest…
Oh, well, he had bad news.
“It wasn’t one man, Will. Unfortunately, it was multiple men. They found out he was a cop, and tried to kill him. They left him for dead afterward.”
That was so much worse, and Will couldn’t imagine what his man had been through. Now, Will wanted to puke, but he wanted to be strong for Corbin first.
And he would be.
Bet.
On.
It.
“I hope they rot in hell. Better yet, find them and point me at them. I’ll hurt them in ways they never thought possible. They can’t get away with this,” he said.
He smiled.
Yeah, Will was meant to marry Corbin. That was love right there.
How did he know?
Oh, maybe because Gene would say the same exact thing. Love made you want to cross the line for your person.
As for the men…well, he and Gene had handled that. As far as anyone was concerned, justice had been done, and if any of them ever got out, they’d finish the job.
For family.
“That’s handled. Don’t ask questions because we can’t give you answers,” he admitted, hoping he understood.
Will didn’t bat an eye.
“Good. Thank you for doing that. I know that it couldn’t be easy for a Fed.”
Actually, it had been—for family.
