“Well, my job as our children’s father is to take excellent care of their mother.” His lips tenderly met mine.

I walkedinto Love At First Sip, and Olivia pointed to a table in the corner, where a young woman with long blonde hair sat.

“Allison?”

“Marley?” She smiled. “It’s so nice to meet you.” She stood up, and we hugged.

I showed her my portfolio, and we went over pricing. She hired me on the spot and wanted to get started right away.

“We already booked the church and the place for the reception.”

I wrote down her wedding date, the church’s name, and the Waldorf Astoria. Since the wedding was going to take place in three months, we needed to get moving on the details and order the invitations.

“If you don’t mind me asking. Why are you getting married so quickly?” I asked.

“My fiancé said he didn’t want to wait to get married. In fact, he suggested we go to the court and do it, but I’ve always dreamed of a big wedding, and my parents would be so angry if we did that. They’re very wealthy and have many social statuses and friends.”

“And what does your fiancé do?”

“He’s a financial advisor at Chase Morgan.”

“Nice. I can meet with you and your fiancé tomorrow if you want to look at invitations,” I said. “We really need to pick one out and get them ordered.”

“My fiancé is out of town on a business trip for the next two weeks. My mom and I can meet with you.”

“Sure, okay.”

“We can meet at my mother’s house tomorrow around eleven o’clock. Will that work?”

“Eleven is fine.”

“Great. I’ll see you then, Marley.”

Chapter Twenty-Five

TWO WEEKS LATER

Charlie

I opened my eyes before the alarm went off and stared at Marley as she slept on her back, her belly sticking up under the sheets. I was in love with her but had yet to tell her. She blew into my life without warning. One minute, she was sitting next to me on a plane back to New York, and the next, she was standing in my living room telling me she was pregnant.

She told me her panic attack a couple of weeks ago was because after we found out the gender of the twins, it made them more real. Perhaps that’s how I felt. If I said those three words, it would make us real. Shit. The more I thought about it, the more I felt like an asshole. I loved this woman who disrupted my perfect bachelor’s life.

Reaching over, I placed my hand on her belly. Her eyes opened, and she stared into mine.

“What are you doing?” A soft smile crossed her lips.

“You grew overnight again.” I smirked.

“It’s a nightly thing now,” she yawned.

The alarm went off. Reaching over, I shut it down and held my arm out.

“I need some cuddling before I get up and ready for work.” I smiled.

She snuggled against me, laying her head on my chest. I thought about how much my parents would have loved her.

“I love you, Marley.”
