I sighed, bringing the cup to my lips.

I had an Uber pick me up and take me to Bradshaw Capital. I’d never been there and wanted to see where Miles worked. Would he be pissed that I just showed up? Yeah, probably, but I didn’t care.

I took the elevator up to the forty-second floor. When I stepped out, I asked the gentleman sitting behind the large cherry desk where Miles’ office was. When I reached his office, a woman with short dark hair greeted me.

“How can I help you?”

“Is Miles in there?” I pointed to his office.

“And you are?” Her brows furrowed.

“His wife, Stella.”

“Oh my gosh.” She grinned, stood up, and hugged me. “I’m so happy to finally meet you. I’m Isla, his secretary, assistant, and slave.” She laughed.

“It’s nice to meet you, Isla.”

She walked over to his door and slowly opened it.

“Miles, someone is here to see you,” she said.

“Who?” I heard him ask.

“Me.” I stepped inside his office.

“Stella, what are you doing here?” His brows furrowed.

Isla shut the door behind me.

“I was in the area and wanted to see where you spend your days and late nights.”

“Shouldn’t you be in class?”

“Classes are over. This is nice.” I looked around his oversized office.

“Thank you.” He glanced at his watch. “I have a meeting in the conference room in five minutes. I wish you had called first.”

“No big deal. I just wanted to see where you worked. Like I said, I was in the area.”

“Did Sean drive you here?”

“No. I took an Uber. I had Sean take me to Starbucks after class and then told him he could leave. I wanted to do some shopping, but I ended up sitting in a park for a while.”

“Why?” His brows furrowed.

“I guess to relax and enjoy my iced coffee.”

A small smile framed his lips as he walked over and kissed my forehead.

“I have to get to my meeting. I’ll see you tonight.”

“Okay.” We walked out of his office together.

“Isla, I’ll be in conference room two,” he told her.

“It was nice to meet you, Isla.” I smiled.

“You too, Stella. We should do lunch sometime.”
