I hope he sees the same in mine.
Smiling shyly, I take his hand, and we walk out on the dance floor, where he spins me around until we're interrupted by Richard who taps Hendrix's shoulder and takes me into his arms next. I'm almost in tears I feel so cared for. After our dance, I’m back in Mason’s arms.
"When I get you to Italy, I'm going to lay you down, spread these gorgeous thighs of yours and spend some time finding the honey that's in honeymoon. I'm going to eat you up, girl. I hope you're ready."
I burrow deeper into his neck, giggling. "Mason!" I gasp. "You're so bad."
Mason nuzzles the top of my head. "I'm ready to go. We've got a flight to catch."
I turn worried eyes to where my sister stands with Hendrix and our parents. The only request his mom had was we stay for a reception.
Mason turns my face to him. "Hey," he says softly. "Can we have a day where it's just about us? And we don't worry about anyone else? Is that okay, butterfly?"
I smile. "That sounds fine with me."
Chapter twenty-six
You're In Love
Iroll my lips, and my skin flushes as Mason opens the door to our private suite within the palace walls he'd rented for our honeymoon. His eyes are hot on me as I step inside, and I linger within the foyer as the door clicks behind me loudly. Locking out the security and amplifying how alone we are. My toes curl in my heels as anxiety rears its ugly head, making me feel discombobulated.
It is the first time we've been alone since the wedding.
My eyes flicker around, barely able to see the beautiful space with its high ceilings and gilded wainscotting, as it truly hits me for the first time that I am married, and I haveno ideawhat to do with aman. I've never been around one longer than a few hours at a time, and I've certainly never cohabitated with one.
Mason insisted on a two week honeymoon, and I'm terrified.
I clench my fingers together as my stomach heaves with emotion. Mason steps beside me, and I almost jump out of my skin as his warm broad hand settles against my back, and he presses his lips to my temple. "Go freshen up while I bring our bags into the room and unpack them."
Jerkily nodding my head, I turn and walk down a hallway and find a powder room. Though it's not a full bathroom, I shut myself inside and sit on the lid of the toilet and pull my phone out of my purse, finding my text thread with my sister and typing out a message.
Help! -Mel
?-Isobel
What's wrong? Did you make it okay? -Isobel
Yes, we made it just fine. I'm just nervous… -Mel
Nervous? You guys already slept together…. I'm confused. Make it make sense. -Isobel
I roll my eyes, huffing out an irritated breath.
NO, listen! I don't know the first thing about being married. What am I supposed to do with him, Izzy? -Mel
Turning my head, I lean towards the door as my ears strain, picking up the muted sounds of Mason moving around the space on the otherside. There's a bang followed by a rough, cut-off curse that forces a shiver to roll down my spine.
What do you mean what are you supposed to do with him? -Izzy
She sends the message with a few horrified face emojis.
I'VE NEVER BEEN MARRIED BEFORE. WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?! -Mel
How the hell am I supposed to know? -Izzy
I scrunch my face up, typing furiously.
You've been married for four fucking years, Isobel! What the hell are you talking about how are you supposed to know? You're almost half a decade in and you don't know? -Mel
