He captured her lips with his and slowly, sensually, began to explore the depths of her mouth. Anna groaned, running her fingers through his thick, dark hair.

"Henry?"

"Yes?"

"I want you."

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Anna sat quietly ona settee watching Alice and Daisy as they stood in front of the French doors leading onto the terrace. A torrential summer rain, with raging winds, along with thunder and lightning raged all around Blackmont Crest.

Rain laden wind struck the windows. The meticulously trimmed hedgerows thrashed about as lightning struck from the sky. The storm was beyond the usual afternoon shower. It'd turned into a full assault.

It was late afternoon, the day of their dinner party. The table had been set, the drawing room cleared for a small dance floor at one end. Anna knew there would be no entertaining tonight. Notes had been dispatched by two footmen to the invited guests informing them that due to the violent weather, the dinner party was being postponed. She knew no one would have ventured out anyway but felt the extra gesture on her part would be remembered.

Alice turned away from the window. "What shall we do now?"

"I spoke with cook, and we'll eat whatever she has prepared already. Unfortunately, that is a good portion of the meal. The remainder we can give to the staff and their families."

She made a little face. "I'm sure Henry won't be happy with all the waste."

"Your brother would rather his guests be safe."
