“And I wonder if tales and stories of the two of us will be told and remembered. Do you think people in the distant future will know our names?”

I had to think about this for a moment before responding. Yes, the tales of other former gods, goddesses, and titans have been long-lived. I imagined that when and if our reign as Olympians would possibly come to an end, people would at least know our names and our godly titles. That I was more than certain of. But as to them knowing more about Hestio or me beyond that, I had my doubts.

“Our names, yes. But as to our own stories and the time us two spend together, I do not think so,” I admitted.

“What makes you so certain of that?” Hestio questioned me.

“Well, think about it. The only tales that we ever hear of that stand the testament of time are those of the gods that are dramatic and filled with grief, revenge, and competition among them. The two of us are nothing like the others. We do not argue, we are not bitter, and we do not seek to cause harm or problems for anyone else. So, unless we do something extremely out of the ordinary to draw attention to ourselves, then I believe not much will be said about us in history.”

“Oh…” Hestio mumbled, as if he were disappointed. “And does this bother you?”

“Not in the least!” I eagerly replied. “The one thing I can testify about us is that we are far more content and at peace than any other god or goddess I know of. I would rather live my existence in this eternal state of pleasure and harmony and be unheard of, than have a life filled with drama, power struggles, fights and be remembered for that.”

“Well, do you suppose we will be viewed as dull, boring gods, if that is the case?”

I shook my head, grinning at Hestio. “Probably. But let others view us in such a way. Let them think we are drab and uninteresting. Their opinion of me is no concern of mine. Your opinion of me is the only one that matters.”

Hestio grinned at me. “And that opinion will always be a favorable one.”

I could not help but smile back at him, leaning into him for a kiss. “And likewise. Forever and always.”
