As badly as I wanted to fulfill my urges and his right now, I needed to pull away. I had him right where I needed him.Lingering. This moment would come soon, but right now I needed to focus on getting him out of here.

“Persephone stated that I only have one hour to be here with you,” I informed him.

“What? That’s it? Well, what about me leaving this world with you?”

I shrugged. “She has forbidden you from leaving here. Her and Hades both, she told me.”

“But I no longer want to remain here in the Underworld. I want to go with you, Goddess,” he confessed. “Please. You must take me with you.”

It was music to my ears. Who was I to deny the request of the most beautiful man alive? “If that is what you wish, then I will make it happen. However, be warned, Adonis. There could be consequences for these actions. I will do my best to protect you. But this could anger the gods. You must remain fully devoted to me if you want to survive this. Some may view this astreachery.”

Adonis firmly nodded. “I promise, Aphrodite. I promise to forever remain loyal to you.”

And just like that, I had once again gotten my way and overruled that stuffy bitch, Persephone. Adonis was mine, and she would no longer have her nails dug into him. I reached for his hand. “Come then. We must make

haste.”

It had been two days since I assisted Adonis in escaping the Underworld. In those two full days, not once had Adonis left my side. We laid naked together in an olive grove, shaded by the verdant foliage of the most lush and ornate Moria trees. We had made love countless times in such a short period. I could lie here with him forever. Adonis was my own ambrosia in the living flesh. His mind thrilled me and his body gave me ecstasy. He was my prized possession. What I referred to as my favoriteaphrodisiac.

My perky breasts pressed into his chest as I laid on top of him. Adonis’ heavy pants slowly subsided after just releasing himself into me for what seemed like the endless time. “You’ll be the death of me, Aphrodite,” he managed to speak in between breaths.

I giggled at his flattering remark. “I would say you’re the death of me as well, except I’m immortal.”

We both snickered at my comment, but then felt a shift in the breeze. Our smiles dispersed with the wind

as we recognized a shadow hovering over us from behind. I spun around to see a lean, yet fit man standing tall before us. Upon seeing him, I rolled my eyes and then turned to my side to stand up. “Hmph. Do you find joy in ruining the bliss of others?” I asked, vexed that Hermes had interrupted my alone time with Adonis.

“But of course!” Hermes exclaimed. He held his hands on his hips. The straps on his winged gladiator sandals made his calves protrude. “I consider it as sucking the joy from others and bringing it into me.”

I folded my arms over my chest as Adonis remained behind me, also rising to his feet. “Clearly, you came here for a better reason than that. So out with it,” I demanded.

“Tsk. Tsk. You should know that when you get angry, you turn into the Goddess of ugliness,” Hermes stated.

My eyes bulged at his rude statement. “How dare you!” I screeched. But more surprising than his crass remark was that I heard Adonis lightly chuckle. I twisted my head to see that he held his hand over his mouth, attempting to hide his laughter.

My attention diverted back to Hermes as he spoke. “But I did not come here to banter with you. No. I’ve come to give you a message.”

“And what message is that?” I asked with a perplexed expression on my face.

“Zeus has summoned you. He requests an immediate assembly with you and Persephone alone,” he explained.

I shook my head in disappointment. “That bitch really had to get him involved!?”

Hermes nodded. “Yes. And he demands you go to him now.”

“And what of Adonis?” I questioned.

“What about him?”

“Does Zeus request his presence, too?” I asked.

“No. It is forbidden. He only wants you and Persephone as his audience,” Hermes revealed.

“Well, I need to take Adonis somewhere safe,” I replied. “This is his first time on the surface. Surely…”

My thoughts were disrupted as Hermes interjected. “There is no time for that. Zeus needs to see you now. I will watch over Adonis for you.”

I shook my head. “Hmph. I think he’s safer alone than around the likes of you!” I scolded. I did not trust Hermes around my lover at all. Not one bit. His trickery knew no bounds. But at this point, I had no choice in the matter. I had no time to spare, for the King of the Gods would surely punish me if I kept him waiting any longer.
