“Well, how do you suppose we get rid of it?” Euryale asked.

“The wood seems usable. It would be a shame to waste it. Are we able to all carry it back with us to use for the fire?” I inquired.

“I think we can handle it,” Stheno replied.

“Okay. I guess I don’t really have a say in this, do I?” Euryale questioned.

Stheno and I shook our heads.

Euryale sighed, knowing she would have to put in the work and tedious labor to drag this raft with us across the island. “Well then, I plan on having an extra cup of wine after this. I deserve it!”

Chapter 13

Oh, the number of men that have come and gone… to the bottom of the lake. Given how upset I was after each time I killed a warrior, Stheno and Euryale immediately dumped the stoned bodies in the lake, so that they would never be seen again, a way to not have me constantly reminded of these dreadful experiences. I was beginning to lose count of the hunters whose lives I was forced to end. It had been another year spent on the island and no warrior, no matter how strong or skilled, was a match for the gorgons. One right after the other, they all turned to stone.

However, there came a day where I found myself in an unusual predicament that I hadn’t anticipated. Word must have gotten out across the world of my beauty. I hid in the forest behind a tree, noticing two men step forward. They had both of their arms spread out, eyes closed, calling to me.

“Gorgon! We come in peace. We have no weapons, just ourselves. Please show yourself to us. Allow us to look into our shields to see your alluring features,” the taller of the two men shouted. He was slightly leaner than the other human next to him, but still had an attractive figure. The smaller man was very muscular, to the point where I was able to make out his coursing veins that bulged from his wide arms and legs. Both men stripped down to reveal their full, solid, tight bodies. Nothing was left to the imagination.

At first, I automatically presumed this was a trick they were trying to pull but was impressed with their ingenuity and intellect in using their shields as a way to not have to look directly into my eyes. However, I could see that they were unarmed besides their shields which were placed upright against a nearby tree, that they gazed into. If they were to try and deceive me, I knew I would easily be able to handle them head-on. I felt confident, with nothing to fear.

I came out of hiding and approached them from behind. I was able to see them glancing at me through their silver shields. The shorter, but stockier man was awestruck. “My gods! Even the tales of your handsomeness do not do you justice. Please, come to me. Allow us to service you.”

I moved closer to them, raising my brow. “You’ve come to service me?”

“Yes. I am Plythonakis of Athens and this is Belthos of Athens as well. We want to offer ourselves to you. Allow us to show you a passion you’ve never experienced in your entire life,” the taller man explained.

“You want to… make love to me?” I was quite confused by this whole thing. How could these men be so willing to fulfill their carnal pleasures when they had no feelings for me? I assumed people only made love to one another if they were, in fact, actually in love.

These men now had me curious. It had been over a year since a man last touched me. I would be lying to myself if I said I did not miss being the admiration of another man and having a warm body against my own. Now, I not only had one man who was willing to make love to me but two.

I could not help but give into my longing desires to be touched once again. I stretched my hands to cup Belthos’ broad shoulders. The man moaned with pleasure and closed his eyes, spinning around to face me. His hands gently caressed my scales before moving higher to my torso. Plythonakis came from behind, softly kissing my neck.

It was hard to believe that these men had traveled to the end of the world just to gain the experience of making love with me. Because of my lack of appendages, my lovemaking abilities were limited. However, I watched as the men penetrated one another in front of me, using my hands and mouth to join them whenever the opportunity arose. After a wild day of passion, it was time for these men to leave and part ways with me.

These male mortals kept their word, and therefore, I had no reason to believe that they would turn against me. I returned to the beach with Plythonakis and Belthos. They looked into their shields to make eye contact with me as they spoke without any harm being done.

“We would love to return here in the future,” Plythonakis suggested. “I wish we could stay and live our lives here with you, but we must return to Athens. We have other duties we cannot ignore.”

“Of course. I would thoroughly enjoy your company again,” I confessed as the two boarded their boat.

“You are truly out of this world, Meduso. I cannot wait to get my hands on you again,” Belthos eagerly expressed.

I chuckled at the two of them. Soon, they departed, while I waited on the shore, watching them and their boat get smaller in my vision as it sailed into the distance. But now, something else caught my eye. It was the dark clouds and atmosphere moving in on them so quickly.

I had never seen the weather change so drastically on the island. But it wasn’t just the weather that worsened; the waters did too. There was no way a single boat could survive this type of storm now coming in. Surely, they would capsize. I shouted out to Plythonakis and Belthos as loudly as I could, fruitlessly attempting to warn them of the incoming nefarious climate, but to no avail.

My eyes widened in horror when I saw the incoming tidal wave crash on top of them. As soon as the wave departed, the sea quickly settled and there was still no sign of them.

Were my eyes deceiving me? I could not comprehend what I had just witnessed. No storm and wave could just appear like that without an influence. Something like this doesn’t just happen out of the blue. It had to have been from… no, it couldn’t be!

“I am glad to see you are doing well, Meduso.” The deep voice from behind startled me.

I spun around, surprised to see that the figure was able to sneak up on me so stealthily. But it wasn’t just any figure. It was Poseidon.

His form did not change one bit since the last time I saw him. His cerulean eyes matched the sea and his auburn hair glistened in the sun.

“Why did you kill those men!?” I yelled angrily.
