I heldout my pinky finger. “You promise?” I asked playfully poking my lip out.
He wrappedhis finger around mine and pulled me to him kissing me again. “I got you, but you already knew that.”
I didn’t haveshit to do for the rest of the day besides study so that’s all I did. People wouldn’t have a clue to how difficult this shit really was. Who would’ve ever known that the nails played such a big part when it came to the rest of our bodies as well. Since I didn’t feel like cooking when I was done, I went and sat on the porch to enjoy the breeze. For the first time in a long time, I was truly content, but I didn’t want to get my hopes all up just yet because it seemed like the very minute I got happy, something always happened and caused my world to crumble again. I wondered if my life would be different had I been born to different parents; that was an answer I’d never get because it was going to be whatever it was going to be.
A few hours later,Mya was honking the horn coming to pick me up. I almost didn’t know who she was because this time she was in a brand-new Honda Coupe. I grabbed my purse, made sure I had a couple of dollars, and hopped in. “Why are you blowing on the horn like a mad lady? Are we going somewhere?” I asked.
She looked at my purse.“If you weren’t sure about going anywhere or not then why did you bring that big ass purse?” She frowned.
“What’s wrong Mya? What happened?”I asked, she was in a bad mood.
“I didn’t cometo pick you up, I came to vent real quick about Demond’s ass.” She said.
“What happened?”
“I’m findingall kind of numbers and condoms in his cars and shit. If I’m home, then why does he need condoms in the cars if he isn’t planning on doing shit? Like he’s making sure he’s prepared or something?”
I shrugged my shoulders.“On the real, I’d rather any man be prepared at all times, even if they don’t plan on cheating.”
“Get out Kisha.”She ordered.
“Damn, you putting me out because you didn’t hear what you wanted to hear?” I laughed.
“Yep. Get out.”
I openedthe door and did so gladly, but I couldn’t stop laughing. “We’ll try this again another time.” I slammed the door and walked back inside. I was flustered with butterflies feeling like life was normal and this was exactly how it was supposed to be.
CHAPTER 18
“Yo, your little friend is back.” Demond pointed to Brittany who stood outside waiting in front of another car checking it out. We’d just wrapped up some business with the adjusters and I was frustrated because we were doing this shit on our own. The most we had were diplomas, never took up business courses, didn’t have financial advisors, or nobody we could turn too; just two young niggas trying to get our business poppin’.
“I thinkwe need to take up a course or holla at somebody who can give us an input on what it is we’re trying to do.” I told him heading out the door.
“Yeah,I’ve been thinking about that, let me get on top of it now.” Demond agreed.
I noticedthe car full of dudes pull up. “Looks like those your people, if you know what I mean. They didn’t come to buy no cars.” I said.
Demond stopped and looked.“That’s Durk from up the street. I got em.”
I mademy way outside to try to make this sale with Brittany. She looked even prettier than the last time I’d seen her, but I had a feeling she was up to something more than cars. “Hello, I see you’re back.” I greeted her.
She looked up and smiled.“I’m back, and you’re rude.”
“What didI do to be rude?” I asked.
“You did all besides hangup in my face the other night.” She reminded.
“I thinkthat was rude for you to call me trying to talk knowing I have a girlfriend.” I said.
“Well, you never said you had rules. It isn’t any rules in this shit, but know I know.”
I didn’t knowwhat she was getting at, but I chuckled. “So, what’s up Brittany? Are you finally going to buy a car today?” I asked her.
“Call me Britt.”She said. “That’s what my friends call me.”
“We aren’t friends though.”I replied.
She swungher long hair over her shoulder; damn she was pretty, but not prettier than my Kisha. It wasn’t no bitch alive prettier than her in my eyes.
