CHAPTER 11

When I looked in the room and saw that Kish made it back safe with her friend right by her side, a nigga was relieved like a motherfucker. Ain’t no need in lying, cause shit, I knew when people got their freedom, they became weak. The fact that she was back in the house and looked normal meant a lot to me. She didn’t know how much I trusted her for that already. Instead of waking them up, I closed the door and went in the garage to clean my guns and count some money in the process. I was about to have to come out of the pocket for Reesie’s case. The lawyer was talking dumb numbers, but I had to make it happen. I had money and coke that I never had to touch in two years, but it looked like I was about to be on the other side hustling instead of robbing niggas. I put a joint in my mouth when I was finished so I could sit down and think.

Even when Iwas supposed to be thinking about other shit, my mind still drifted off to Kisha. I picked up my phone and went to Tidal typing in ‘Trick Daddy’ playlist that I created as the sounds of my favorite song played:Could it be that I’m lost getting’ soft, and just fallin’ in love.

I lovedher with everything in me, and I always did I didn’t want to scare her though. That wasn’t my intentions. I put my focus back on what needed to be done. In a few hours I had to go visit Reesie’s crazy ass. In my heart I knew it was over for her. I wished she would’ve listened to me. I hit the shower and went to sleep to get myself ready for this visit. By the time I woke up at the crack of dawn, Kisha and Mya were still sleeping. I threw on my leather coat and let my dreads hang. Since I didn’t want them folks trippin’ I didn’t wear no jewelry and shit.

After I wentthrough the process, Reesie was waiting for me at the glass holding her phone. I could tell she was happy to see me, and I was genuinely happy to see her.

“I’mglad you made it Meek.” She smiled showing those dimples that I loved.

“I wouldn’t miss it,you know that.”

“This shit doesn’t lookgood Meek.” She said now looking worried.

I placedone finger up to my lips and shook my head stopping her from talking; these conversations were recorded.

She noddedher head understanding what I was saying.

“You’ll be okay.”I told her.

She chuckled.“No, I won’t Meek, you and I both know they’ll still stick me just to say they solved a case. It’s witnesses and all type of shit against me.”

“You have a good lawyer.”I said, and I could’ve sworn I told this girl to stop talking before she indicted her damn self.

“How’s Kisha?”She asked.

“Much better Reesie. She’s getting back to her old self ma.”

She tilted her head.“Have you slept with her?”

I shookmy head again and leaned back in the chair. “I’d never cheat on you.”

“I know Meek.”She took a deep breath. “But I’ve been thinking about something within the past twenty-four hours. I can only expect for the worse. I could get put away for a long time.”

I cut her off.“Why the fuck you being so negative?”

“Just listen Meek, let me finish.”She said. “I don’t want you to wait for me and I don’t want to be in here stressing about it. If I had to let you go, I rather do it now and only pray that you’ll still look out for me.”

“What you getting at Reesie?”I asked. She was fucking with a nigga’s mind right now.

“I’m saying,go be with Kisha, if I had to watch you be with anybody, she’d be the one. At least I know she genuinely loves you.”

“Areyou breaking up with me Reesie?” I frowned. I was confused like a motherfucker. Women were confusing as fuck, period.

She loweredher eyes and then looked back up at me. “Yes Meek, I’m smart enough to know how this shit goes.” She said. “You know I love you, that’s why I’m setting you free. The time is up.” She said standing up as they called for the visit to be over. “Write me and come visit me again Meek. Keep me updated on the lawyers and shit.” She said blowing a kiss and walking off.

I sat there staringat her in her uniform; those bowlegs made anything look good. However, I had nothing but respect for her because that was the realist shit any female had ever done. When I left there, I felt like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders. The first thing I did was put some money on her books. Next, I went to the store and purchased some flowers and cake for Kisha. It also didn’t hurt to run in the mall and grab her a badass diamond ring. It wasn’t an engagement ring or shit like that; however, it was a promise ring to ‘New Beginnings.’

I rushedto the house hoping to catch her there and not somewhere in the streets with Mya. To my surprise she was standing in the kitchen bare feet wearing a shirt-dress licking icing off of a spoon while Mya sat at the counter with her hands propped up under her chin in a deep conversation.

“What’s wrong with you?”Kisha giggled. “Why you moving so fast?”

“And what’s with the flowers?”Mya asked laughing.

I dismissedher and stood right next to Kisha. “Come here.” I said.

She looked at me crazy.“What’s going on Meek?”
