“I knowReesie and that’s why I love you. That’s real.” I told her. I knew she probably felt a little distance coming from me over the past couple of weeks. Truth was, I couldn’t get Kisha off of my mind. I grabbed everything that I needed. The grey Benz that he normally drove wasn’t there; however, the white one was. “Stay close to your phone Reesie, and if anything looks crazy shoot first and ask questions later.”
“I know Meek.”She giggled.
I wascautious when I jogged across the street to the house. Everything was dark except for the one light coming from the side. I took my time and bent down until I reached that window to see if anyone was in there. When I leaned up aiming my gun just in case I had to shoot, I was in for a disturbing surprise. The pretty light skin was leaned back with her head resting on the couch, and a pile of coke sat at the table in front of her. I knew motherfucking well I wasn’t looking at who I thought I was looking at. My heart broke in a million pieces.
“Kisha!”I used the butt of my gun and shattered the glass. If they did have an alarm system, that shit didn’t ring off. That’s what I meant; stupid niggas thought they couldn’t be touched. “Kisha! Kish! Get up baby!” I yelled as I climbed through the window and ran to her side. I was fucked up, what was she doing in this nigga’s house anyway? Her eyes were partly open, and visible snot ran down her nose. I couldn’t believe this shit. “Fuck!” I was still holding my gun in my hand as I gently picked her up into my arms. She was so out of it, she didn’t even realize that somebody was in the house. I was gonna kill that nigga Kidd, I knew this was all him.
“Meek!”Reesie yelled standing at the window pointing her gun. “I heard a glass shatter.”
“Meet me at the front door.”I told her grabbing the blanket from the couch and throwing it over her body. She only wore a tiny housedress, and her feet weren’t covered by anything at all. I felt my heart burning as I walked to the door opening it. Reesie was right there. I looked down and noticed the pair of Chanel slides sitting by the door. “Grab them.” I told her.
She pickedthem up and followed me without asking questions. That was the shit about Reesie, she did what was told and asked questions later. We ran out to the car, and I laid Kisha on the back seat getting back there with her. “Drive for me baby.” I said to Reesie.
She hoppedin and drove us out of there as quick as we came. All I could do was look in Kisha’s face and rub her pretty hair. I couldn’t wait to get back to the house; this was really fucking with me. “Kish.” I whispered.
She openedher eyes slightly and closed them back. I removed the mask so she could look in my face. “Kish.” I said. “Why Kish?” I asked her.
She poppedher eyes open again and smiled. “Meek?” She asked in a hoarse voice. She then looked sad and closed her eyes back. “I’m tired Meek.”
“You can’t giveup baby. You came too far.” I told her using my shirt to wipe her face.
Reesie pulledthe visor down and looked through the mirror. “Is she okay?”
“She’s tough Reesie, she’ll be okay.” I looked out of the window and noticed how quick we made it back to the Eastside.
The rubberfrom the tires burned when we pulled into the driveway and in the garage. I opened the door and hopped out holding Kisha in my arms. She was still knocked out and I wouldn’t try to force her up out of it. She needed to sleep this off. I walked her inside of the house from the side door and laid her on the bed in our guest-room then pulled the covers over her and went to talk to Reesie since I knew she was waiting and had questions.
She stood leanedup against the wall with her arms folded across her chest in deep thought. When she heard me coming, she looked up at me. “So that’s the famous Kisha, huh? I’ve seen her picture every day hanging right there on that wall, but in person, she’s even prettier. What happened back there Meek? What was she doing at Kidd’s house?”
I saton the couch and put my face in the palm of my hands. Just a few weeks ago Kisha was okay, I wondered what the fuck could’ve possibly happened that shit just turned into this. “I don’t know Reesie, shit I have to wait until she can talk.”
“Giveher some black coffee or something.” She suggested.
I shook my head.“Nah, no coffee. She gotta come up out this shit on her own.”
“So,is she living here now or what?” She asked.
I finally lookedup at her, this wasn’t like her to ever be concerned enough to ask all of these questions. “I don’t know Reesie, like why you trippin’? I know you ain’t trippin’…right? Cause if don’t nobody else know, you know Kish is my friend and always will be no matter what. She had me and I got her.”
“I’m not trippin’Meek.” She shrugged her shoulders. “I’m just saying, I live here too so this would be something I need to know.”
“Come here.”I told her.
She sather gun on the coffee table and then sat on my lap. “I’m here.”
“I know that, and you know I thank you for everything baby.” I let her know, she was appreciated more than she knew. “I need one more favor.”
“What’s that?”She asked.
“Stay herewith Kisha for me. I gotta go handle something.” I said lifting her from my lap.
She gave me that look.“You’re going to kill Kidd, aren’t you?”
What was understood didn’t needto be explained. “I’ll be back.” I tucked the gun in the small of my waist and walked out.
The driveback to the bottom was even longer then the first time. Visions of Kisha lying on the couch clouded my mind making me go into more of frenzy as my trigger finger itched. Kidd’s bitch ass was about to get it, that nigga was heading for self-destruct any fucking way. I turned the corner and was back on his dark street, but instead of making a move, I waited. The nigga was home, and I knew this because the car was back, and he stood outside of his broken window with a flashlight bouncing off of it. I assumed he was checking the damage out. I watched with anticipation; I was gonna have to do this right.
Three hourslater and the repair guy that he called to fix the window had finally left. An hour later, Kidd was speeding out of the driveway and back up the hill. I knew he was pissed and probably looking for his coke head princess and since I knew he wouldn’t find her, I waited because the nigga had to come back sooner or later. I didn’t know how long I was out that bitch waiting, but when the sun came up, it shined down bright on my face waking a nigga up with the roosters and baking me like some morning biscuits. I yawned and sat up in the seat squinting my eyes. This nigga still wasn’t back yet.
